    Mass distribution in 36.2 MeV alpha induced fission of 232Th

    Mass distribution of fission products has been determined in (alpha+232Th) reaction at Elab=36.2 MeV using alpha particles from the cyclotron at the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC), Kolkata. Yields of 69 fission products having half-lives in the range of about ~1 min to several days have been measured using gamma ray spectrometry of fission products. The mass distribution obtained on the basis of the yields shows a clear triple humped structure showing the contribution from both asymmetric and symmetric modes of fission. Comparison of the experimental mass distribution with the prediction based on the GEF code, which takes into account multi-chance fission, shows that the simulation based on GEF reasonably reproduces asymmetric component arising from standard I mode of fission, but underestimate the contribution from Standard II fission mode. Also, the peak like structure in the symmetric region could not be reproduced.

    Merits and constraints of low- experimental data for the proton radius determination

    The question of the determination of the proton charge radius from electron scattering data led to an unprecedented experimental effort for measurements of the electric form factor of the proton at low and very low momentum transfer in electron and muon elastic scattering. On the basis of basic properties of densities and fitting bias considerations, a procedure is developed in order to evaluate the impact of forthcoming data on . Particularly, it is shown that a 0.1\% precision on these future cross section data is necessary to establish indisputably the -value as determined from lepton scattering. The ProRad (Proton Radius) experiment at the PRAE (Platform for Research and Applications with Electrons) facility in Orsay is further discussed, especially the experimental method to meet this stringent constraint.

    Lepton angular distributions of fixed-target Drell-Yan experiments in perturbative QCD and a geometric approach

    The lepton angular distributions of the Drell-Yan process in fixed-target experiments are investigated by NLO and NNLO perturbative QCD. We present the calculated angular parameters , , and the degree of violation of the Lam-Tung relation, , for the NA10, E615 and E866 experiments. Predictions for the ongoing COMPASS and SeaQuest experiments are also presented. The transverse momentum () distributions of and show a clear dependence on the dimuon mass () while those of have a strong rapidity () dependence. Furthermore, and are found to scale with . These salient features could be qualitatively understood by a geometric approach where the lepton angular distribution parameters are expressed in terms of the polar and azimuthal angles of the "natural axis" in the dilepton rest frame.

    We present preliminary differential fiducial cross sections on Central Exclusive Production (CEP, ) of two opposite-charge mesons (, ) in midrapidity region with small squared four-momentum transferred from forward protons, . The process was measured in the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) in proton-proton collisions at the center-of-mass energy .
