On concentration of Ar in the Earth's atmosphere

    A.S. Barabash

Data from the DBA liquid argon ionization chamber experiment have been used to obtain an estimate on the concentration of Ar in the Earth's atmosphere, atoms of Ar per atom of Ar corresponding to the Ar activity of Bq per cubic meter of air.

Since the discovery of the first charmed meson in 1976, many open-charm and open-bottom hadrons were observed. In 2003 two narrow charm-strange states and were discovered by the BaBar and CLEO Collaborations, respectively. After that, more excited heavy hadrons were reported. In this work, we review the experimental and theoretical progress in this field.

Plastic scintillation detectors for precision time-of-flight measurements of relativistic heavy ions

    Wen-Jian Lin🇨🇳 · Jian-Wei Zhao🇨🇳 · Bao-Hua Sun🇨🇳 · Liu-Chun He🇨🇳 · Wei-Ping Lin🇹🇼 · Chuan-Ye Liu🇨🇳 · Isao Tanihata🇯🇵 · Satoru Terashima🇨🇳 · Yi Tian🇨🇳 · Feng Wang🇨🇳 · Meng Wang · Guang-Xin Zhang🇨🇳 and 15 other authors

Plastic scintillation detectors for Time-of-Flight (TOF) measurements are almost essential for event-by-event identification of relativistic rare isotopes. In this work, a pair of plastic scintillation detectors of 50 50 3 mm and 80 100 3 mm have been set up at the external target facility (ETF), Institute of Modern Physics. Their time, energy and position responses are measured with O primary beam at 400 MeV/nucleon. After the off-line walk-effect and position corrections, the time resolution of the two detectors are determined to be 27 ps () and 36 ps (), respectively. Both detectors have nearly the same energy resolution of 3 () and position resolution of 2 mm (). The detectors have been used successfully in nuclear reaction cross section measurements, and will be be employed for upgrading RIBLL2 beam line at IMP as well as for the high energy branch at HIAF.
