Non-Abelian Ball-Chiu vertex for arbitrary Euclidean momenta

    A. C. Aguilar🇧🇷 · J. C. Cardona🇧🇷 · M. N. Ferreira🇧🇷 · J. Papavassiliou🇪🇸

We determine the non-Abelian version of the four longitudinal form factors of the quark-gluon vertex, using exact expressions derived from the Slavnov-Taylor identity that this vertex satisfies. In addition to the quark and ghost propagators, a key ingredient of the present approach is the quark-ghost scattering kernel, which is computed within the one-loop dressed approximation. The vertex form factors obtained from this procedure are evaluated for arbitrary Euclidean momenta, and display features not captured by the well-known Ball-Chiu vertex, deduced from the Abelian (ghost-free) Ward identity. The potential phenomenological impact of these results is evaluated through the study of special renormalization-point-independent combinations, which quantify the strength of the interaction kernels appearing in the standard quark gap and Bethe-Salpeter equations.

Tagging a mono-top signature in Natural SUSY

    Dorival Goncalves🇬🇧 · Kazuki Sakurai🇬🇧 · Michihisa Takeuchi🇯🇵

We study the feasibility of probing a region of Natural Supersymmetry where the stop and higgsino masses are compressed. Although this region is most effectively searched for in the mono-jet channel, this signature is present in many other non-supersymmetric frameworks. Therefore, another channel that carries orthogonal information is required to confirm the existence of the light stop and higgsinos. We show that a supersymmetric version of the process, , can have observably large rate when both the stop and higgsinos are significantly light, and it leads to a distinctive mono-top signature in the compressed mass region. We demonstrate that the hadronic channel of the mono-top signature can effectively discriminate the signal from backgrounds by tagging a hadronic top-jet. We show that the hadronic channel of mono-top signature offers a significant improvement over the leptonic channel and the sensitivity reaches GeV at the 13 TeV LHC with 3 ab luminosity.

Small- asymptotics of the quark helicity distribution

    Yuri V. Kovchegov🇺🇸 · Daniel Pitonyak🇺🇸 · Matthew D. Sievert🇺🇸

We construct a numerical solution of the small- evolution equations recently derived in \cite{Kovchegov:2015pbl} for the (anti)quark helicity TMDs and PDFs as well as the structure function. We focus on the case of large where one finds a closed set of equations. Employing the extracted intercept, we are able to predict directly from theory the behavior of the helicity PDFs at small , which should have important phenomenological consequences. We also give an estimate of how much of the proton's spin may be at small and what impact this has on the so-called "spin crisis."

Breit-Wigner approximation for propagators of mixed unstable states

    Elina Fuchs🇮🇱 · Georg Weiglein🇩🇪

For systems of unstable particles that mix with each other, an approximation of the fully momentum-dependent propagator matrix is presented in terms of a sum of simple Breit-Wigner propagators that are multiplied with finite on-shell wave function normalisation factors. The latter are evaluated at the complex poles of the propagators. The pole structure of general propagator matrices is carefully analysed, and it is demonstrated that in the proposed approximation imaginary parts arising from absorptive parts of loop integrals are properly taken into account. Applying the formalism to the neutral MSSM Higgs sector with complex parameters, very good numerical agreement is found between cross sections based on the full propagators and the corresponding cross sections based on the described approximation. The proposed approach does not only technically simplify the treatment of propagators with non-vanishing off-diagonal contributions, it is shown that it can also facilitate an improved theoretical prediction of the considered observables via a more precise implementation of the total widths of the involved particles. It is also well-suited for the incorporation of interference effects arising from overlapping resonances.

Helicity Evolution at Small : Flavor Singlet and Non-Singlet Observables

    Yuri V. Kovchegov🇺🇸 · Daniel Pitonyak🇺🇸 · Matthew D. Sievert🇺🇸

We extend our earlier results for the quark helicity evolution at small to derive the small- asymptotics of the flavor singlet and flavor non-singlet quark helicity TMDs and PDFs and of the structure function. In the flavor singlet case we re-derive the evolution equations obtained in our previous paper on the subject, performing additional cross-checks of our results. In the flavor non-singlet case we construct new small- evolution equations by employing the large- limit. All evolution equations resum double-logarithmic powers of in the polarization-dependent evolution along with the single-logarithmic powers of in the unpolarized evolution which includes saturation effects. We solve the linearized flavor non-singlet equation analytically, obtaining an intercept which agrees with the one calculated earlier by Bartels, Ermolaev and Ryskin using the infra-red evolution equations. Our numerical solution of the linearized large- evolution equations for the flavor singlet case is presented in the accompanying Letter and is further discussed here.

    Natural generalized mirage mediation

    Howard Baer🇺🇸 · Vernon Barger🇺🇸 · Hasan Serce🇺🇸 · Xerxes Tata🇺🇸

In the supersymmetric scenario known as mirage mediation (MM), the soft SUSY breaking terms receive comparable anomaly-mediation and moduli-mediation contributions leading to the phenomenon of mirage unification. The simplest MM SUSY breaking models which are consistent with the measured Higgs mass and sparticle mass constraints are strongly disfavoured by fine-tuning considerations. However, while MM makes robust predictions for gaugino masses, the scalar sector is quite sensitive to specific mechanisms for moduli stabilization and potential uplifting. We suggest here a broader setup of generalized mirage mediation (GMM), where heretofore discrete parameters are allowed as continuous to better parametrize these other schemes. We find that natural SUSY spectra consistent with both the measured value of m(h). as well as LHC lower bounds on superpartner masses are then possible. We explicitly show that models generated from natural GMM may be beyond the reach of even high-luminosity LHC searches. In such a case, the proposed International Linear e^+e^- Collider (ILC) will be required for natural SUSY discovery via higgsino pair production reactions. We also outline prospects for detection of higgsino-like WIMPs from natural GMM.

Diffractive processes at the LHC within -factorization approach

    Marta Łuszczak🇵🇱 · Antoni Szczurek🇵🇱

We discuss the single diffractive production of pairs and charmed mesons at the LHC. In addition to standard collinear approach, for a first time we propose a -factorization approach to the diffractive processes. The transverse momentum dependent (the unintegrated diffractive parton distributions) in proton are obtained with the help of the Kimber-Martin-Ryskin prescription where collinear diffractive PDFs are used as input. In this calculation the transverse momentum of the pomeron is neglected with respect to transverse momentum of partons entering the hard process. The results of the new approach are compared with those of the standard collinear one. Significantly larger cross sections are obtained in the -factorization approach where some part of higher-order effects is effectively included. Some correlation observables, like azimuthal angle correlation between and , and pair transverse momentum distribution were obtained for the first time.

    QCD and studies at FCC-ee

    Peter Skands🇦🇺 · David d'Enterria🇨🇭

The Future Circular Collider (FCC) is a post-LHC project aiming at searches for physics beyond the SM in a new 80--100~km tunnel at CERN. Running in its first phase as a very-high-luminosity electron-positron collider (FCC-ee), it will provide unique possibilities for indirect searches of new phenomena through high-precision tests of the SM. In addition, by collecting tens of ab integrated luminosity in the range of center-of-mass energies ~=90--350~GeV, the FCC-ee also offers unique physics opportunities for precise measurements of QCD phenomena and of photon-photon collisions through, literally, billions of hadronic final states as well as unprecedented large fluxes of quasireal 's radiated from the beams. We succinctly summarize the FCC-ee perspectives for high-precision extractions of the QCD coupling, for detailed analyses of parton radiation and fragmentation, and for SM and BSM studies through collisions.

Explaining the observed deviation in R() in an anomalous 2HDM

    Lobsang Dhargyal🇮🇳

The reported combined excess of about 4, by BABAR, Belle and LHCb, in the measurements of R() and Br(B ) from that of the standard model expectation constitute the most significant discrepancy from the standard model in collider experiments thus far(apart from the non zero neutrino masses). Here we analyze the phenomenological implications for these decay modes in a Flipped/Lepton-Specific two-Higg-doublet model with anomalously enhanced charged Higgs coupling to /b. We conclude that this extension of the standard model can give results in agreement within 1 of the experimental values for the combination of R() and Br(B ) data.

New tensor interaction as the source of the observed CP asymmetry in

    Lobsang Dhargyal🇮🇳

Babar collaboration has reported an intriguing opposite sign in the integrated decay rate asymmetry than that of SM prediction from the known K0 - mixing. Babar's result deviate from the SM prediction by about 2.7. If the result stands with higher precision in the future experiments, the observed sign anomaly in the can most likely come only from some new physics occurring possibly in both hadronic as well as leptonic sectors. In this work, we will give an improved analysis of our previous work where we have illustrated that, while non-standard scalar or vector/axial-vector interactions will not contribute to the observed asymmetry in the integrated decay rate, a new tensor interaction can explain the observed anomaly. Assuming the real part of the new tensorial coupling is negligible compare to its imaginary part and with and Br() as data points to fit the imaginary part of the NP coupling, we have been able to fit the result within 1 of the experimental values.

New physics effects in the Higgs trilinear self-coupling through one-loop radiative corrections

    A. Moyotl🇲🇽 · S. Chamorro-Solano🇲🇽 · H. Castilla-Valdez🇲🇽 · M. A. Pérez🇲🇽

We compute the one-loop corrections to the triple Higgs self-interaction in the framework of the Standard Model (SM), the Two Higgs Doublet Model type III (THDM-III) and the Littlest Higgs Model with T parity (LHBM+T). Our results are compared with previous results for the SM. In particular, we find that an imaginary part for the form factor is induced when one of the Higgs boson legs is off-mass shell with 4-momentum magnitude higher than the Higgs boson mass. This contribution is sensitive to virtual effects of the Higgs self-interaction, that induces a radiative correction to the coupling of order 11%. However, the radiative corrections associated to the new degrees of freedom of the THDM-III and the LHBM+T are rather smaller and comparable to the and gauge bosons one-loop corrections.

The K-meson form factor and charge radius: linking low-energy data to future high-energy Jefferson Laboratory results

    A.F. Krutov🇷🇺 · S.V. Troitsky🇷🇺 · V.E. Troitsky🇷🇺

Starting from a successful model of the pi-meson electromagnetic form factor, we calculate the similar form factor, f_K(Q^2), of the charged K meson for a wide range of the momentum transfer squared, Q^2. The only remaining free parameter is to be determined from the measurements of the K-meson charge radius, r_K. We fit this single parameter to the published data of the NA-7 experiment which measured f_K(Q^2) at Q^2->0 and determine our preferred range of r_K, which happens to be close to recent lattice results. Still, the accuracy in the determination of r_K is poor. However, future measurements of the K-meson electromagnetic form factor at Q^2<~5.5 GeV^2, scheduled in Jefferson Laboratory for 2017, will test our approach and will reduce the uncertainty in r_K significantly.

Renormalization Scheme Dependence and Renormalization Group Summation

    F.A. Chishtie🇨🇦 · D.G.C. McKeon🇨🇦

We consider logarithmic contributions to the free energy, instanton effective action and Laplace sum rules in QCD that are a consequence of radiative corrections. Upon summing these contributions by using the renormalization group, all dependence on the renormalization scale parameter cancels. The renormalization scheme dependence in these processes is examined, and a renormalization scheme is found in which the effect of higher order radiative corrections is absorbed by the behaviour of the running coupling.

Transverse Momentum Dependent Fragmenting Jet Functions with Applications to Quarkonium Production

    Reggie Bain🇺🇸 · Yiannis Makris🇺🇸 · Thomas Mehen🇺🇸

We introduce the transverse momentum dependent fragmenting jet function (TMDFJF), which appears in factorization theorems for cross sections for jets with an identified hadron. These are functions of , the hadron's longitudinal momentum fraction, and transverse momentum, , relative to the jet axis. In the framework of Soft-Collinear Effective Theory (SCET) we derive the TMDFJF from both a factorized SCET cross section and the TMD fragmentation function defined in the literature. The TMDFJFs are factorized into distinct collinear and soft-collinear modes by matching onto SCET. As TMD calculations contain rapidity divergences, both the renormalization group (RG) and rapidity renormalization group (RRG) must be used to provide resummed calculations with next-to-leading-logarithm prime (NLL') accuracy. We apply our formalism to the production of within jets initiated by gluons. In this case the TMDFJF can be calculated in terms of NRQCD (Non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics) fragmentation functions. We find that when the carries a significant fraction of the jet energy, the and distributions differ for different NRQCD production mechanisms. Another observable with discriminating power is the average angle that the makes with the jet axis.

Bayesian analysis of spatial-dependent cosmic-ray propagation: astrophysical background of antiprotons and positrons

    Jie Feng🇨🇳 · Nicola Tomassetti🇮🇹 · Alberto Oliva🇪🇸

The AMS-02 experiment has reported a new measurement of the antiproton/proton ratio in Galactic cosmic rays (CRs). In the energy range 60-450 GeV, this ratio is found to be remarkably constant. Using recent data on CR proton, helium, and carbon fluxes, 10Be/9Be and B/C ratios, we have performed a global Bayesian analysis based on a Markov-Chain Monte-Carlo sampling algorithm under a "two halo model" of CR propagation. In this model, CRs are allowed to experience a different type of diffusion when they propagate in the region close of the Galactic disk. We found that the vertical extent of this region is about 900 pc above and below the disk, and the corresponding diffusion coefficient scales with energy as , describing well the observations on primary CR spectra, secondary/primary ratios and anisotropy. Under this model we have carried out improved calculations of antiparticle spectra arising from secondary CR production and their corresponding uncertainties. We made use of Monte-Carlo generators and accelerator data to assess the antiproton production cross-sections and their uncertainties. While the positron excess requires the contribution of additional unknown sources, we found that the new AMS-02 antiproton data are consistent, within the estimated uncertainties, with our calculations based on secondary production.

    Initial conditions for inflation

    Konstantinos Dimopoulos🇬🇧 · Michal Artymowski🇵🇱

Within the -attractors framework we investigate scalar potentials with the same pole as the one featured in the kinetic term. We show that, in field space, this leads to directions without a plateau. Using this, we present a proposal, which manages to overcome the initial conditions problem of inflation with a plateau. An earlier period of proto-inflation, beginning at Planck scale, accounts for the Universe expansion and arranges the required initial conditions for inflation on the plateau to commence. We show that, if proto-inflation is power-law, it does not suffer from a sub-Planckian eternal inflationary stage, which would otherwise be a problem. A simple model realisation is constructed in the context of -attractors, which can both generate the inflationary plateau and the exponential slopes around it, necessary for the two inflation stages. Our mechanism allows to assume chaotic initial conditions at the Planck scale for proto-inflation, it is generic and it is shown to work without fine-tuning.

The calculated photon elliptic flows are lower than those reported recently by both the ALICE and PHENIX collaborations.

Distinguishing the nonjet azimuth quadrupole from QCD jets and hydrodynamic flows via 2D angular correlations and quadrupole spectrum analysis

    Thomas A. Trainor🇺🇸

According to the flow narrative commonly applied to high-energy nuclear collisions a 1D cylindrical-quadrupole component of 2D angular correlations conventionally denoted by quantity is interpreted to represent elliptic flow: azimuth modulation of transverse or radial flow in noncentral nucleus-nucleus (A-A) collisions. The nonjet (NJ) quadrupole component exhibits various properties inconsistent with a flow or hydro interpretation, including the observation that NJ-quadrupole centrality variation in - collisions has no relation to strongly-varying jet modification ("jet quenching") in those collisions commonly attributed to jet interaction with a dense flowing medium. In the present study I report isolation of quadrupole spectra from -differential data obtained at the relativistic heavy ion collider (RHIC) and large hadron collider (LHCr). I demonstrate that NJ quadrupole spectra have characteristics very different from the single-particle spectra for most hadrons, that quadrupole spectra indicate a common boosted hadron source for a small minority of hadrons that "carry" the quadrupole structure, that the narrow source-boost distribution is characteristic of an expanding thin cylindrical shell (also strongly contradicting a hydro interpretation), and that in the boost frame a single universal quadrupole spectrum (Lévy distribution) on transverse mass accurately describes data for several hadron species scaled according to their statistical-model abundances. The quadrupole spectrum shape changes very little from RHIC to LHC energies. Taken in combination those characteristics strongly suggest a unique {\em nonflow} (and nonjet) QCD mechanism for the NJ quadrupole conventionally represented by .

Directed flow in asymmetric nucleus-nucleus collisions and the inverse Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal effect

    V.D. Toneev🇷🇺 · V. Voronyuk🇷🇺 · E.E. Kolomeitsev🇸🇰 · W. Cassing🇩🇪

It is proposed to identify a strong electric field - created during relativistic collisions of asymmetric nuclei - via the observation of pseudorapidity and transverse momentum distributions of hadrons with the same mass but opposite charge. The results of detailed calculations within the Parton-Hadron String Dynamics (PHSD) approach for the charge-dependent directed flow are presented for semi-central Cu+Au collision at GeV incorporating the inverse Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal (iLPM) effect, which accounts for a delay in the electromagnetic interaction with the charged degree of freedom. Including the iLPM effect we achieve a reasonable agreement of the PHSD results for the charge splitting in in line with the recent measurements of the STAR Collaboration for Cu+Au collisions at GeV while an instant appearance and coupling of electric charges at the hard collision vertex overestimates the splitting by about a factor of 10. We predict that the iLPM effect should practically disappear at energies of 9 GeV, which should lead to a significantly larger charge splitting of at the future FAIR/NICA facilities.

Two-solar-mass hybrid stars: a two model description with the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio quark model

    Renan Câmara Pereira🇵🇹 · Pedro Costa🇵🇹 · Constança Providência🇵🇹

Hybrid stars with a quark phase described by the NambuJona-Lasinio model are studied. The hadron-quark model used to determine the stellar matter equation of state favors the appearance of quark matter: the coincidence of the deconfinement and chiral transitions and a low vacuum constituent quark mass. These two properties are essential to build equations of state that predict pure quark matter in the center of neutron stars. The effect of vector-isoscalar and vector-isovector terms is discussed, and it is shown that the vector-isoscalar terms are necessary to describe 2 hybrid stars, and the vector-isovector terms result in larger quark cores and a smaller deconfinement density.

Focusing on well-motivated scenarios, we study the resulting contributions from particle production during inflation, inflationary spectator fields with varying speed of sound, effective field theories of inflation with specific patterns of symmetry breaking and models leading to the formation of primordial black holes. The projected sensitivities of LISA are used in a model-independent way for various detector designs and configurations. We demonstrate that LISA is able to probe these well-motivated inflationary scenarios beyond the irreducible vacuum tensor modes expected from any inflationary background.
