Further developments of a multi-phase transport model for relativistic nuclear collisions

    Zi-Wei Lin🇺🇸 · Liang Zheng🇨🇳

A multi-phase transport (AMPT) model was constructed as a self-contained kinetic theory-based description of relativistic nuclear collisions as it contains four main components: the fluctuating initial condition, a parton cascade, hadronization, and a hadron cascade. Here, we review the main developments after the first public release of the AMPT source code in 2004 and the corresponding publication that described the physics details of the model at that time. We also discuss possible directions for future developments of the AMPT model to better study the properties of the dense matter created in relativistic collisions of small or large systems.

Study of nonlocality effects in direct capture reactions with Lagrange-mesh -matrix method

Nguyen Hoang Phuc · Nguyen Tri Toan Phuc · Do Cong Cuong

We apply the Lagrange-mesh -matrix method to calculate the -factor for the CN and OF direct radiative capture reactions. By comparing the astrophysical -factors calculated with nonlocal and local potentials, we investigate the nonlocality effects coming from the nuclear potentials in the direct capture reactions. Our calculations are in good agreement with the experimental data and indicate a nonnegligible difference in the results of local and nonlocal potentials. The use of small diffuseness narrow potentials also provides a remarkably good fit in the case with multiple broad resonances. Our findings suggest that the nonlocal potential improves the calculated results although the difference between the local and nonlocal potentials is smaller than uncertainties from other sources. We propose the nonlocality potential should be used in the potential model calculation of future astrophysics rates evaluation.

Recent results and future prospects of kaonic nuclei at J-PARC

    F.Sakuma🇯🇵 · S.Ajimura🇯🇵 · T.Akaishi🇯🇵 · H.Asano🇯🇵 · M.Bazzi🇮🇹 · G.Beer🇨🇦 · H.Bhang🇰🇷 · M.Bragadireanu🇷🇴 · P.Buehler🇦🇹 · L.Busso🇮🇹 · M.Cargnelli🇦🇹 · S.Choi🇰🇷 and 64 other authors

-nuclear bound systems, kaonic nuclei, have been widely discussed as products of the strongly attractive interaction in channels. Recently, we demonstrated that kaonic nuclei can be produced via in-flight reactions using the low-momentum DC kaon beam at the J-PARC E15 experiment. We observed the simplest kaonic nuclei, , having a much deeper binding energy than normal nuclei. For further studies, we have proposed a series of experimental programs for the systematic investigation of light kaonic nuclei, from () to . In the new experiment approved as J-PARC E80, we will measure the () system as a first step toward a comprehensive study.

A first gamma-ray study of 47,49Cl spectroscopy was performed at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory with 50Ar projectiles at 217 MeV/nucleon, impinging on the liquid hydrogen target of the MINOS device. Prompt de-excitation gamma-rays were measured with the NaI(Tl) array DALI2+. Through the one-proton knockout reaction 50Ar(p,2p), a spin assignment could be determined for the low-lying states of 49Cl from the momentum distribution obtained with the SAMURAI spectrometer. A spin-parity J = 3/2+ is deduced for the ground state of 49Cl, similar to the recently studied N = 32 isotope 51K.

Photoproduction of relativistic QED bound states in hadronic collisions

    R. Francener🇧🇷 · V. P. Goncalves🇧🇷 · B. D. Moreira🇧🇷

In this paper we investigate the photoproduction of QED bound states in proton -- proton, proton -- nucleus and nucleus -- nucleus collisions at RHIC, LHC and FCC energies considering an accurate treatment of the absorptive corrections and for the nuclear form factor. The total cross sections for the production of singlet and triplet states, with , are estimated and a detailed analysis of the photoproduction of singlet QED bound states is performed considering the rapidity ranges covered by central and forward detectors. The impact of the Coulomb corrections on the parapositronium production in heavy ion collisions is estimated. We predict a large number of events associated to the production of () and () states in hadronic collisions.

Jet Drift and Collective Flow in Heavy-Ion Collisions

    Logan Antiporda🇺🇸 · Joseph Bahder🇺🇸 · Hasan Rahman🇺🇸 · Matthew D. Sievert🇺🇸

We study the tomographic applications of a new phenomenon we dub "jet drift" -- the deflection of high-energy particles and jets toward the direction of a flowing medium -- to the quark-gluon plasma produced in heavy-ion collisions. While the physics of jet drift is quite general, for specificity we consider the case of photon-jet production at mid-rapidity. Beginning with the simplest possible model, a large slab of uniformly flowing plasma, we systematically introduce the geometrical elements of a heavy-ion collision in a simple optical Glauber model. We find that the moving medium causes the jet to drift in the direction of the flow, bending its trajectory and leaving detailed signatures of the flow pattern in the distribution of acoplanarities. In the elliptical geometries produced in non-central collisions, this drift effect leads to a strong geometry coupling which persists despite the addition of event-by-event fluctuations in the jet production point, impact parameter, and acoplanarity. We propose a new observable to measure the jet drift effect through the correlation of acoplanarities with the elliptic flow of soft particles. Preliminary estimates suggest this correlation may be studied at sPHENIX and the LHC.

    Johannes Heinrich Weber🇩🇪 · Alexei Bazavov🇺🇸 · Peter Petreczky🇺🇸

We report on preliminary results from the calculations of the QCD equation of state for 2+1+1 flavors using HISQ action. The calculations are performed on lattices with temporal extents , and and aspect ratio . We find that there is a significant contribution to the pressure from charm quarks at temperatures MeV.
