Radiative nucleon capture with quasi-separable potentials

    Shubhchintak · C. A. Bertulani · A. M. Mukhamedzhanov · A. T. Kruppa

We study radiative capture reactions using quasi-separable potentials. This procedure allows an easier treatment of non-local effects that can be extended to three-body problems. Using this technique, we calculate the neutron and proton radiative capture cross sections on C. The results obtained are shown to be in good agreement with the available experimental data.

Fermion self-energy in magnetized chirally asymmetric QED matter

    D.O. Rybalka🇺🇸

The fermion self-energy is calculated for a cold QED plasma with chiral chemical potential in a magnetic field. It is found that a momentum shift parameter dynamically generated in such a plasma leads to a modification of the chiral magnetic effect current. It is argued that the momentum shift parameter can be relevant for the evolution of magnetic field in the chirally asymmetric primordial plasma in the early Universe.

Degeneracies with the Q.Q interaction in a single j shell

    Larry Zamick · Alberto Escuderos

Previously [1] it was shown that for a configuration of 2 protons and 2 neutrons in the g_{9/2}shell there is a certain degeneracy that occurs when the quadrupole-quadrupole interaction (Q.Q) is used to to obtain the wave functions.. We here show 3 other examples of such degenerate pairs, all, as before, involving T=0 and T=2 states. . More important we discuss an unusual peculiarity of the original example. Also we point out that degeneracies can be confusing and steps can be taken to remove them.

Sub-threshold charm production in nuclear collisions

    J. Steinheimer🇩🇪 · A. Botvina🇩🇪 · M. Bleicher🇩🇪

We present the first predictions for sub-threshold open charm and charmonium production in nuclear collisions. The production mechanism is driven by multi-step scatterings of nucleons and their resonance states, accumulating sufficient energy for the production of , and . Our results are of particular importance for the CBM experiment at FAIR, as they indicate that already at the SIS100 accelerator one can expect a significant number of charmed hadrons to be produced. This opens new possibilities to explore charm dynamics and the formation of charmed nuclei.

Predictions for bottomonia suppression in 5.023 TeV Pb-Pb collisions

    Brandon Krouppa🇺🇸 · Michael Strickland🇺🇸

We compute the suppression of the bottomonia states Upsilon(1S), Upsilon(2S), Upsilon(3S), chi_b(1P), chi_b(2P), and chi_b(3P) states in Large Hadron Collider (LHC) sqrt(s_NN)) = 5.023 TeV Pb-Pb collisions. For the background evolution we use 3+1d anisotropic hydrodynamics with conditions extrapolated from sqrt(s_NN) = 2.76 TeV and we self-consistently compute bottomonia decay rates including non-equilibrium corrections to the interaction potential. For our final results, we make predictions for R_AA as function of centrality, rapidity, and p_T for the Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(2S) states, including feed down effects. In order to assess the dependence on some of the model assumptions, we vary the shear viscosity-to-entropy density ratio, 4 pi eta/s = (1, 2, 3), and the initial momentum-space anisotropy parameter, xi_0 = (0, 10, 50), while holding the total light hadron multiplicity fixed.
