An experimental campaign to measure double-differential cross sections (DDXS) for light-charged particles (LCPs) emitted from Fe was carried out in 2023 at the Neutrons For Science (NFS) facility of GANIL, France. The Medley experimental setup, specifically designed for light-ion measurements, was used for this campaign. The setup was installed in the white neutron beam line and irradiated with neutrons of energies up to 44 MeV. The Time-of-Flight (TOF) technique was used to obtain Fe(n,pX) double-differential cross sections for all neutron energies within the white-neutron beam's energy range. This work highlights important steps in the data-analysis procedure and reports the first results from this experimental campaign.

Measurement of -jet correlations in and Pb+Pb collisions at TeV with the ATLAS detector

    ATLAS Collaboration

Yields of charmonia, bound states of quarks, are observed to be strongly suppressed in heavy-ion collisions relative to proton-proton collisions as a result of their interaction with the quark-gluon plasma produced in such collisions. Understanding the mechanisms responsible for this suppression requires a detailed understanding of charmonium production. To constrain the production mechanisms, it is essential to quantify how charmonium production correlates with jet activity. Measurements of production in the dimuon decay channel are presented for inclusive mesons and for mesons that are either isolated or not isolated from jets, separately for prompt and non-prompt production. Non-isolated mesons are defined by matching candidates to anti- jets with and GeV, reconstructed without signal from the meson, allowing the quantification of jet activity accompanying production. The analysis uses Pb+Pb and collisions at TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 1.82 nb and 0.26 fb, respectively. The yields in Pb+Pb, cross sections in , and nuclear modification factors are presented for non-isolated, isolated, and inclusive up to GeV. Isolated fractions and non-prompt fractions are reported in both and Pb+Pb collisions. Strong suppression is observed to persist up to the highest measured values, with differences observed between non-isolated, isolated, and inclusive . These results provide new constraints on charmonium production mechanisms and their in-medium suppression.

Bosonic Contribution to Parity-Violating Møller Scattering at NNLO

Lisong Chen · Jens Erler · Ayres Freitas · Juhun Kwak

We calculate the dominant bosonic two-loop virtual electroweak corrections to parity-violating Møller scattering at low energies. The electron effective weak charge is extracted from the polarization asymmetry, retaining all contributions that are enhanced by or relative to the tree-level contribution. Analytical results are obtained using the expansion by regions method in the low-energy limit . Within this approximation, the dominant two-loop bosonic corrections shift the electron effective weak charge (or equivalently the polarization asymmetry) by . We examine the origin of the leading contributions to this result and assess the remaining theoretical uncertainty from purely bosonic contributions for the MOLLER experiment to about 0.1%.
