We simultaneously measured the He()He and He()H reactions in the energy range around the giant dipole resonance. A quasi-monoenergetic photon beam produced via the laser Compton scattering technique was irradiated on the active-target time-projection chamber filled with helium gas, and trajectories of charged decay particles emitted from He were measured. Our data suggest that the He()He and He()H cross sections peak around 26 MeV. This result contradicts the previous experimental data reported by Shima et al. but is consistent with other experimental results.

How to extract the electromagnetic response of He in relativistic collisions

    C.A. Bertulani🇺🇸

I investigate the difficulties in obtaining the electromagnetic response of light, halo-like, nuclei using reactions at radioactive beam facilities. A relativistic coupled-channels theory for the calculation of dissociation cross sections of halo nuclei is compared to first-order perturbation theory. A comparison with semiclassical models frequently used in experimental analysis is also performed. It is shown that the effects of relativity and of the nuclear interaction lead to sizable effects in the extraction of the electromagnetic response of 6He projectiles.
