We report the first simultaneous and independent measurements of the Kp and Kp cross sections around 100 MeV/c kaon momentum. The kaon beam delivered by the DANE collider was exploited to detect K absorptions on Hydrogen atoms, populating the gas mixture of the KLOE drift chamber. The precision of the measurements ( and ) is the highest yet obtained in the low kaon momentum regime.

Precision mass measurements of neutron-rich rhodium isotopes have been performed at the JYFLTRAP Penning trap mass spectrometer at the Ion Guide Isotope Separator On-Line (IGISOL) facility. We report results on ground- and isomeric-state masses in Rh and the very first mass measurement of Rh. The isomeric states were separated and measured for the first time using the phase-imaging ion-cyclotron-resonance (PI-ICR) technique. For Rh, we also report new half-lives for both the ground state and the isomer. The results are compared to theoretical predictions using the BSkG1 mass model and discussed in terms of triaxial deformation.

Measurement of heavy-flavor production in the high-mass dimuon spectrum in pp collisions at = 13 TeV with ALICE

    Michele Pennisi🇮🇹

Charm and beauty quark production measurement represents a fundamental means to access the initial stage of hadronic collisions. Being produced almost exclusively in initial hard partonic scatterings due to their large masses, 1.3 and 4.1 , charm and beauty quarks are ideal tools to investigate various QCD aspects. In addition, the corresponding measurements in pp collisions represent a baseline for cold nuclear matter studies in p--A collisions as well as for the characterization of the hot and dense interacting nuclear matter, the quark--gluon plasma (QGP), formed in A--A interactions. An analysis technique that was little investigated until now at LHC energies to measure and cross sections consists in exploring the high-mass regions of the dilepton invariant mass spectrum, more precisely the two continuum regions between charmonium and bottomonium resonances ) and above the bottomonium states ( 11 ). Indeed, these regions are significantly populated by the semileptonic decays of hadron pairs containing charm and beauty quarks. In these proceedings, the status of this study is shown, discussing the details of the analysis procedure foreseen to measure the charm and beauty cross sections. In particular, the results of PYTHIA8 simulations for pp collisions at = 13 TeV in the rapidity region 2.5 < \textit{y} < 4 covered by the ALICE muon spectrometer, crucial to address the different components to the dimuon yield, are presented.

Global analyses of nuclear PDFs with heavy-quark and neutrino data

    M. Klasen🇩🇪 · P. Duwentäster🇫🇮 · T. Jezo🇩🇪 · K. Kovarik🇩🇪 · A. Kusina🇵🇱 · J.G. Morfin🇺🇸 · K.F. Muzakka🇩🇪 · F.I. Olness🇺🇸 · R. Ruiz🇵🇱 · I. Schienbein🇫🇷 · J.Y. Yu🇫🇷

We discuss the two most recent global analyses of nuclear parton distribution functions within the nCTEQ approach. LHC data on -boson, single-inclusive hadron and heavy quark/quarkonium production are shown to not only significantly reduce the gluon uncertainty down to , but to also influence the strange quark density. The latter is further constrained by neutrino deep-inelastic scattering and charm dimuon production data, whose consistency with neutral-current experiments is also re-evaluated.

Dilepton production in the photodisintegration of the deuteron

    Mengchu Cai🇨🇳 · Tianbo Liu🇨🇳 · Bo-Qiang Ma🇨🇳

We study the lepton pair production in the photodisintegration of the deuteron process. The complete seven-fold differential cross section is calculated via the Bethe-Heitler mechanism with final state interactions taken into account. The deuteron bound state is described by a relativistic covariant deuteron-nucleon vertex. With numerical results, we find that the differential cross section has strong dependence on the lepton azimuthal angle in the small polar angle region and sharp peaks appear in the dependence on the invariant mass of the produced lepton pair or the two nucleons in the final state. We demonstrate that such nearly singular feature originates from the collinearity between the produced lepton or antilepton and the incident photon, and it is physically regularized by the lepton mass in our calculation. The final state interaction between the knocked-out nucleon and the recoil nucleon redistributes the differential cross section over the missing momentum, with a significant enhancement at large missing momentum and a suppression in the intermediate region. With a further decomposition of the final state interaction contribution, it is found that the on-shell term dominates the near quasi-elastic region while the off-shell term dominates the other end. In addition, we examine the contribution from the interference between the proton amplitude and the neutron amplitude, which as expected is found negligible even if the proton-neutron rescattering is included. The result in this work can serve as an input for the analysis and background estimation of multiple exclusive measurements at Jefferson Lab and future electron-ion colliders.
