Measurement of inclusive charged-particle b-jet production in pp and p-Pb collisions at TeV

    ALICE Collaboration

A measurement of the inclusive b-jet production cross section is presented in pp and p-Pb collisions at TeV, using data collected with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The jets were reconstructed in the central rapidity region from charged particles using the anti- algorithm with resolution parameter . Identification of b jets exploits the long lifetime of b hadrons, using the properties of secondary vertices and impact parameter distributions. The -differential inclusive production cross section of b jets, as well as the corresponding inclusive b-jet fraction, are reported for pp and p-Pb collisions in the jet transverse momentum range GeV/, together with the nuclear modification factor, . The analysis thus extends the lower limit of b-jet measurements at the LHC. The nuclear modification factor is found to be consistent with unity, indicating that the production of b jets in p-Pb at TeV is not affected by cold nuclear matter effects within the current precision. The measurements are well reproduced by POWHEG NLO pQCD calculations with PYTHIA fragmentation.

Anisotropic flow decorrelation in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC-BES energies with 3D event-by-event viscous hydrodynamics

    Jakub Cimerman🇨🇿 · Iurii Karpenko🇨🇿 · Boris Tomasik🇨🇿 · Barbara Antonina Trzeciak🇨🇿

In the RHIC Beam Energy Scan program, gold nuclei are collided with different collision energies in the range from few to 62.4 GeV. The goals of the program are to explore the onset of QGP creation, locate the critical point of QCD and study dense baryon matter. We report on the first application of Monte Carlo Glauber (GLISSANDO2) and TENTo initial states extended to 3D for event-by-event viscous fluid dynamic (vHLLE) with hadronic cascade modelling of Au+Au collisions at and 62.4 GeV, which is the upper region of RHIC BES energies. The initial states are extended into both the longitudinal direction and for finite baryon density using simple ansätze. The full energy and baryon charge counting in the initial states is implemented. We show the reproduction of elliptic flow, at both collision energies and with both initial states. We compare it also to the results obtained with UrQMD initial state. Furthermore, we show the results for rapidity decorrelation of elliptic flow at and 200 GeV from the same setup of hydrodynamic calculations with the 3D Monte Carlo Glauber and UrQMD initial states. We discuss the features of the initial states responsible for the magnitude of the observed flow decorrelation.

Nuclear Shell Structure in a Finite-Temperature Relativistic Framework

    Herlik Wibowo🇹🇼 · Elena Litvinova🇺🇸

The shell evolution of neutron-rich nuclei with temperature is studied in a beyond-mean-field framework rooted in the meson-nucleon Lagrangian. The temperature-dependent Dyson equation with the dynamical kernel taking into account the particle-vibration coupling (PVC) is solved for the fermionic propagators in the basis of the thermal relativistic mean-field Dirac spinors. The calculations are performed for Ni in a broad range of temperatures MeV. The special focus is put on the fragmentation pattern of the single-particle states, which is further investigated within toy models in strongly truncated model spaces. Such models allow for quantifying the sensitivity of the fragmentation to the phonon frequencies, the PVC strength and to the mean-field level density. The model studies provide insights into the temperature evolution of the PVC mechanism in real nuclear systems under the conditions which may occur in astrophysical environments.

Hydrodynamic analyses of nuclear collisions in Landau and Eckart frames

    Akihiko Monnai🇯🇵

Relativistic dissipative hydrodynamic model at finite density is a promising tool for analyzing the dense QCD matter created in the beam energy scan experiments. The hydrodynamic frame can be chosen in the direction of energy flow, which is called the Landau frame, or conserved charge flow, which is called the Eckart frame. In this study, I investigate the stability and causality of full second-order relativistic hydrodynamic equations in the two frames. Then the effects of frame choice on hydrodynamic variables and experimental observables are estimated numerically and are found to be visible on the flow but limited on the rapidity distributions.
