Charm-baryon enhancement and charm fragmentation fractions in small systems measured with ALICE

    Jianhui Zhu🇨🇳

Recent measurements of charm-baryon production at midrapidity by the ALICE collaboration show baryon-to-meson yield ratios significantly higher than those measured in collisions, suggesting that the charm fragmentations are not universal across different collisions systems. Thus, measurements of charm-baryon production are crucial to study the charm quark hadronisation in proton--proton (pp) collisions. In proton--lead (p--Pb) collisions, the measurements of charm baryons provide important information about cold nuclear matter effects and help to understand how the possible presence of collective effects could modify the production of heavy-flavour hadrons. In this contribution, the most recent results on open charm-hadron production in pp and p--Pb collisions measured by ALICE are discussed.

Azimuthal correlations of D mesons with charged particles in simulations with the ALICE experiment

Eszter Frajna🇭🇺 · Robert Vertesi (for the ALICE experiment)🇭🇺

In this manuscript, results of a component-level analysis with Monte Carlo simulations are presented, that aid the interpretation of recent ALICE results on the azimuthal correlation distribution of prompt D mesons with charged hadrons in pp and p--Pb collisions at = 5.02 TeV. Parton-level contributions and fragmentation properties are evaluated. Charm and beauty contributions are compared in order to identify the observables that serve as sensitive probes of the production and hadronization of heavy quarks.

Prospects for the NA60+ experiment at the CERN SPS

Alessandro De Falco (for the NA60+ Collaboration)🇮🇹

A new heavy-ion experiment on fixed target, NA60+, has been proposed at the CERN SPS for data taking in the next years. Its main goals will be focused on precision studies of thermal dimuons, heavy quark and strangeness production in Pb-Pb collisions at center-of-mass energies ranging from 5 to 17 GeV, which will provide a unique opportunity to investigate the region of the QCD phase diagram at high baryochemical potential (~MeV). The key points of the NA60+ very broad and ambitious physics program will be described.

Three-body model of the d+A system in an antisymmetrised, translationally invariant many nucleon theory

    R.C.Johnson🇺🇸

This paper concerns the theory of direct A(d,p)B reactions and how practical 3-body models of them are related to optical model potentials describing the interaction of the deuteron's constituents and the target A. A new definition of the nucleon optical potential is introduced which necessitates a careful examination of the boundary conditions involved in the associate coupled channels problem. The new definition turns out to be convenient for making a connection with the theory of the (d,p) reaction. The analysis is carried out within an antisymmetrised, translationally invariant formalism and provides a firm basis from a many-body point of view for the three-body force effects calculated in previous work by Dinmore, Timofeyk, Al-Khalili and Johnson.

Implementation of residual nucleus de-excitations associated with proton decays in based on the GENIE generator and TALYS code

    Hang Hu🇨🇳 · Wan-Lei Guo🇨🇳 · Jun Su🇨🇳 · Wei Wang🇨🇳 · Cenxi Yuan🇨🇳

We implement the de-excitation processes of residual nuclei associated with proton decays in based on the GENIE generator and TALYS code. To derive the reasonable excitation energy spectra of residual nuclei , and , the default GENIE nucleon decay generator is modified in terms of the Spectral Function nuclear model. Then we use the TALYS code to estimate the de-excitation processes of residual nuclei. The TALYS calculation can partly account for the experimental data.
