    Light Nuclei (, ) Production in Au + Au Collisions at = 7.7 - 200 GeV

Dingwei Zhang (for the STAR Collaboration)🇨🇳

In high-energy nuclear collisions, light nuclei can be regarded as a cluster of baryons and their yields are sensitive to the baryon density fluctuations. Thus, the production of light nuclei can be used to study the QCD phase transition, at which the baryon density fluctuation will be enhanced. The yield ratio of light nuclei, defined as /, is predicted to be sensitive observable to search for the 1st-order phase transition and/or QCD critical point in heavy-ion collisions. In this paper, we present the energy and centrality dependence of (anti)deuteron and triton production in Au+Au collisions at = 7.7, 11.5, 14.5, 19.6, 27, 39, 54.4, 62.4, and 200 GeV measured by the STAR experiment at RHIC. We show beam-energy dependence for the coalescence parameter, and , particle ratios, , , and , and the yield ratio of /. More importantly, non-monotonic energy dependence is observed for the yield ratio, /, in 0-10\% central Au+Au collisions with a peak around 20-30 GeV. Their physics implications on QCD critical point search and change of the equation of state will be discussed.

    Quarkonium production: An experimental overview

    Zebo Tang🇨🇳

Quarkonium has been proposed as a sensitive probe of quark-gluon plasma (QGP) more than thirty years ago. Since then, lots of experimental efforts have been devoted to study its production in heavy-ion collisions to search for QGP and study its properties and significant progresses have been made. In this paper, an overview of recent experimental results on charmonium and bottomonium production in heavy-ion collisions as well as in small systems are presented. Furthermore, the results on exotic particle X(3872) production in Pb+Pb and p+p collisions are also discussed.

Coherent photoproduction of vector mesons in ultra-peripheral Pb-Pb collisions at TeV

    ALICE Collaboration

Cross sections for the coherent photoproduction of vector mesons in ultra-peripheral Pb-Pb collisions at TeV are reported. The measurements, which rely on the decay channel, are presented in three regions of rapidity covering the range . For each rapidity interval, cross sections are shown for different nuclear-breakup classes defined according to the presence of neutrons measured in the zero-degree calorimeters. The results are compared with predictions based on different models of nuclear shadowing. Finally, the observation of a coherently produced resonance-like structure with a mass around 1.7 GeV/ and a width of about 140 MeV/ is reported and compared with similar observations from other experiments.

Probing Nucleons and Nuclei in High Energy Collisions

Christine A. Aidala · Elke Aschenauer · Fatma Aslan · Alessandro Bacchetta · Ian Balitsky · Sanjin Benic · Shohini Bhattacharya · Mariaelena Boglione · Matthias Burkardt · Justin Cammarota · Giovanni A. Chirilli · Christopher Cocuzza and 78 other authors

This volume is a collection of contributions for the 7-week program "Probing Nucleons and Nuclei in High Energy Collisions" that was held at the Institute for Nuclear Theory in Seattle, WA, USA, from October 1 until November 16, 2018. The program was dedicated to the physics of the Electron Ion Collider (EIC), the world's first polarized electron-nucleon (ep) and electron-nucleus (eA) collider to be constructed in the USA. These proceedings are organized by chapters, corresponding to the weeks of the program: Week I, Generalized parton distributions; Week II, Transverse spin and TMDs; Week III, Longitudinal spin; Week IV, Symposium week; Weeks V & VI, eA collisions; Week VII, pA and AA collisions. We hope these proceedings will be useful to readers as a compilation of EIC-related science at the end of the second decade of the XXI century.
