We present measurements of elliptic and triangular azimuthal anisotropy of charged particles detected at forward rapidity in AuAu collisions at GeV, as a function of centrality. The multiparticle cumulant technique is used to obtain the elliptic flow coefficients , , , and , and triangular flow coefficients and . Using the small-variance limit, we estimate the mean and variance of the event-by-event distribution from and . In a complementary analysis, we also use a folding procedure to study the distributions of and directly, extracting both the mean and variance. Implications for initial geometrical fluctuations and their translation into the final state momentum distributions are discussed.

Predictions for cross sections of light proton-rich isotopes in Ca + Be reaction

    Y.D. Song · H.L. Wei🇨🇳 · C.W. Ma🇨🇳

The cross sections for the 10 -- 19 with isotopes to in the 140 MeV Ca + Be projectile fragmentation reaction have been predicted. An empirical formula based on the correlation between the cross section and average binding energy of isotope has been adopted to predict the cross section. The binding energies in the AME16, WS4, and the theoretical prediction by the spherical relativistic continuum HartreeBogoliubov theory have been used. Meanwhile, the {\sc fracs} parametrization and the modified statistical abrasion-ablation model are also used to predict the cross sections for the proton-rich isotopes. The predicted cross sections for the 3 isotopes are close to mb, which hopefully can be studied in experiment. In addition, based on the predicted cross sections, the 14 is suggested to be a new magic number in the light proton-rich nuclei with 3/2, of which the phenomenon is much more evident than it is from the average binding energy per nucleon.

Shell Inhomogeneities of the Single-Particle Level Spectra in the Practical Model of the Gamma-Decay of Neutron Resonance

    N. Jovančević · L.V. Mitsyna · A.M. Sukhovoj · D. Knežević · M. Krmar · J. Petrović · S. Oberstedt🇧🇪 · A. Dragić · F.-J. Hambsch · D.C. Vu

In this paper we have taken into account shell inhomogeneities of the single-particle level spectra in the practical model of the gamma-decay of neutron resonance developed in Dubna. The obtained data confirm a dependence of breaking thresholds for Cooper pairs on a shape of investigated nuclei - a phenomenon noticed earlier without taking into account the shell inhomogeneity.

Elliptic flow of charm and strange hadrons in high-multiplicity pPb collisions at 8.16 TeV

    CMS Collaboration

The elliptic azimuthal anisotropy coefficient () is measured for charm (D) and strange (K, , , and ) hadrons, using a data sample of pPb collisions collected by the CMS experiment, at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy 8.16 TeV. A significant positive signal from long-range azimuthal correlations is observed for all particle species in high-multiplicity pPb collisions. The measurement represents the first observation of possible long-range collectivity for open heavy flavor hadrons in small systems. The results suggest that charm quarks have a smaller than the lighter quarks, probably reflecting a weaker collective behavior. This effect is not seen in the larger PbPb collision system at 5.02 TeV, also presented.

Searching for the QCD critical point via the rapidity dependence of cumulants

    Jasmine Brewer🇺🇸 · Swagato Mukherjee🇺🇸 · Krishna Rajagopal🇺🇸 · Yi Yin🇺🇸

The search for a possible critical point in the QCD phase diagram is ongoing in heavy ion collision experiments at RHIC which scan the phase diagram by scanning the beam energy; a coming upgrade will increase the luminosity and extend the rapidity acceptance of the STAR detector. In fireballs produced in RHIC collisions, the baryon density depends on rapidity. By employing Ising universality together with a phenomenologically motivated freezeout prescription, we show that the resulting rapidity dependence of cumulant observables sensitive to critical fluctuations is distinctive. The dependence of the kurtosis (of the event-by-event distribution of the number of protons) on rapidity near mid-rapidity will change qualitatively if a critical point is passed in the scan. Hence, measuring the rapidity dependence of cumulant observables can enhance the prospect of discovering a critical point, in particular if it lies between two energies in the beam energy scan.
