Qbe: Quark Matter on Rubik's Cube

    T. Csörgő🇭🇺

Quarks can be represented on the faces of the 3x3 Rubik's cube with the help of a symbolic representation of quarks and anti-quarks, that was delevoped originally for a deck of elementary particle cards, called Quark Matter Card Game. Cubing the cards leads to a model of the nearly perfect fluid of Quark Matter on Rubik's cube, or Qbe, which can be utilized to provide hands-on experience with the high entropy density, overall color neutrality and net baryon free, nearly perfect fluid nature of Quark Matter.

Measurement of the exclusive muoproduction cross section at COMPASS

Matthias Gorzellik (for the COMPASS collaboration)🇩🇪

At COMPASS DVCS and DVMP processes are studied in order to probe the partonic structure of the nucleon by constraining GPD models. Extending beyond semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering, the measurement of lepton-induced exclusive reactions enables the study of GPDs, which ultimately reveal the three dimensional picture of the nucleon and the decomposition of its total angular momentum. Exploiting the flavour filtering character of DVMP measurements, the COMPASS experiment is able to access different combinations of quark and gluon GPDs by determining the cross sections for various mesons. We report on the first extraction of the exclusive muoproduction cross section in the intermediate domain ranging from 0.01 to 0.15.

A toy model of elastic scattering of high energy protons

    I.M. Dremin🇷🇺

The ratio of elastic to total proton cross sections is related to the darkness of the spatial profile of inelastic interactions by a single parameter in the framework of a simple analytical model. Their critical values at LHC energies are discussed. Two possible variants of their asymptotical behavior are described.

The -dependence of the pure DVCS cross section at COMPASS

    P. Joerg (for the COMPASS collaboration)🇩🇪

The key reactions to study the Generalised Parton Distributions are Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) and Deeply Virtual Meson Production (DVMP). At COMPASS, these processes are investigated using a high intensity muon beam with a momentum of 160\,GeV/c and a 2.5\,m-long liquid hydrogen target. In order to optimize the selection of exclusive reactions at these energies, the target is surrounded by a new barrel-shaped time-of-flight system to detect the recoiling particles. COMPASS-II covers the up to now unexplored domain ranging from 0.01 to 0.15. From the sum of cross sections measured with positive and negative beam polarities, the pure DVCS cross-section and its -dependence have been extracted resulting in a first model-independent determination of the transverse size of the partonic distribution of the nucleon at a mean value of 0.056.
