Probing the QCD phase diagram with measurements of strange hadron elliptic flow in STAR

Md. Nasim (for the STAR collaboration)🇺🇸

We present the measurements of strange hadron elliptic flow at mid-rapidity in Au + Au collisions at = 7.7 - 200 GeV using the STAR detector in the years 2010 and 2011. The transverse momentum and collision centrality dependence of elliptic flow is presented. At the intermediate transverse momentum baryon and -meson show baryon-meson separation effect similar to proton and pion for minimum-bias Au+Au collision at =200 GeV. This indicates formation of collective flow at the early partonic phase. The separation between baryons and mesons at intermediate transverse momentum decreases with decrease in beam energy and almost disappears at 11.5 GeV, indicating hadronic interaction being dominant at the lower beam energy. We observe difference in elliptic flow between particle and anti-particle and this increases with decrease in beam energy. Differences are larger for baryons than mesons. Relative difference between particle and anti-particle elliptic flow is larger in central collisions than in peripheral ones.

Measurement of event-by-event transverse momentum and multiplicity fluctuations using strongly intensive measures and in nucleus-nucleus collisions at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron

Results from the NA49 experiment at the CERN SPS are presented on event-by-event transverse momentum and multiplicity fluctuations of charged particles, produced at forward rapidities in central Pb+Pb interactions at beam momenta 20, 30, 40, 80, and 158 GeV/c, as well as in systems of different size (, C+C, Si+Si, and Pb+Pb) at 158 GeV/c. This publication extends the previous NA49 measurements of the strongly intensive measure by a study of the recently proposed strongly intensive measures of fluctuations and . In the explored kinematic region transverse momentum and multiplicity fluctuations show no significant energy dependence in the SPS energy range. However, a remarkable system size dependence is observed for both and , with the largest values measured in peripheral Pb+Pb interactions. The results are compared with NA61/SHINE measurements in collisions, as well as with predictions of the UrQMD and EPOS models.

Proton-lambda correlation functions at the LHC with account for residual correlations

    V. M. Shapoval🇺🇦 · Yu. M. Sinyukov🇺🇦 · V. Yu. Naboka🇺🇦

The theoretical analysis of correlation function in 10% most central Au+Au collisions at RHIC energy GeV shows that the contribution of residual correlations is the necessary factor to obtain a satisfactory description of the experimental data. A neglecting of the residual correlation effect, leads to unrealistically low source radius, about 2 times smaller than the corresponding value for case, when one fits the experimental correlation function within Lednicky-Lyuboshitz analytical model. Recently an approach accounting effectively for residual correlations for the baryon-antibaryon correlation function was proposed, and a good RHIC data description was reached with the source radius extracted from the hydrokinetic model (HKM). The scattering length, as well as the parameters characterizing the residual correlation effect --- annihilation dip amplitude and its inverse width --- were extracted from the corresponding fit. In this paper we use these extracted values and simulated in HKM source functions for Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC energy TeV to predict the corresponding and correlation functions.

Energy dependence of the ridge in high multiplicity proton-proton collisions

    Kevin Dusling🇺🇸 · Prithwish Tribedy🇺🇸 · Raju Venugopalan🇺🇸

We demonstrate that the recent measurement of azimuthally collimated, long range rapidity ("ridge") correlations in TeV proton-proton (p+p) collisions by the ATLAS collaboration at the LHC are in agreement with expectations from the color glass condensate effective theory of high energy QCD. The observation that the integrated near side yield as a function of multiplicity is independent of collision energy is a natural consequence of the fact that multiparticle production is driven by a single semi-hard saturation scale in the color glass condensate framework. We argue further that the azimuthal structure of these recent ATLAS ridge measurements strongly constrain hydrodynamic interpretations of such correlations in high multiplicity p+p collisions.

Beta-decay study within multi-reference density functional theory and beyond

    M. Konieczka🇵🇱 · P. Baczyk🇵🇱 · W. Satula🇵🇱

Pioneering study of Gamow-Teller (GT) and Fermi matrix elements (MEs) using no-core-configuration-interaction formalism rooted in multi-reference density functional theory is presented. After successful test performed for 6He -> 6Li beta-decay, the model is applied to compute MEs in the sd- and pf-shell T=1/2 mirror nuclei. The calculated GT MEs and the isospin-symmetry-breaking corrections to the Fermi branch are found to be in a very good agreement with shell-model predictions in spite of fundamental differences between these models concerning model space, treatment of correlations or inclusion of a core. This result indirectly supports the two-body current based scenarios behind the quenching of axial-vector coupling constant.
