Fission and spallation data evaluation using induced-activity method

    G. S. Karapetyan🇧🇷

The induced-activity investigations in off-line analysis performed in different experiments, concerning pre-actinide and actinide nuclei, are here presented and discussed. Generalized expressions for the determination of independent yields/cross sections of radioactive nuclei, formed in the targets, are derived and analysed. The fragment mass distribution from U-238, Th-232 and Ta-181 photofission at the bremsstrahlung end-point energies of 50 and 3500 MeV, and from Am-241, U-238 and Np-237 fission induced by 660-MeV protons, are scrutinized from the point of view of the multimodal fission approach. The results of these studies are hence compared with theoretical model calculations using the CRISP code. We subsequently discuss the complex particle-induced reaction, such as heavy-ions and deuterons, by using the thick-target thick-catcher technique and the two-step vector model framework as well. This is accomplished in order to present the investigation of the main processes (fission, spallation and (multi)fragmentation) in intermediate- and high-energy ranges of the incident particle. The set of experimental data, presented in this work, encompasses not merely the data as total production cross sections. Notwithstanding, it further covers other data, as individual yields/cross sections, charge, mass and spin distributions of the reaction fragments, as well as kinematic features. These sources of experimental data can serve as a consistent set of benchmarking data, still necessary for the study of heavy nuclei. Besides, it is also useful for technological applications, from astrophysics and environmental sciences to accelerator technology and accelerator-based nuclear waste transmutation and energy amplification as well.

The study of light nuclei production in different interactions at 4.2 AGeV/c

    Kamal Hussain Khan🇵🇰 · M.K. Suleymanov🇵🇰 · M. Ajaz🇵🇰 · Ali Zaman🇵🇰

Average multiplicity of light nuclei produced in different interactions at 4.2A GeVc is studied as a function of centrality. A change in multiplicity is observed with increase in the mass of projectile. In 12CC-interactions an unexpected increase in the multiplicity is seen for the most central events. These measurements are compared with the predictions of Cascade and Fritiof Models which fail to account for the experimentally observed effects. In case of 12CC it is suggested that the inclusion of nuclear coalescence effect can be an explanatory reason for the differences between the experimental measurements and the models predictions.

Evaluation of the forward Compton scattering off protons: I. Spin-independent amplitude

    Oleksii Gryniuk🇩🇪 · Franziska Hagelstein🇩🇪 · Vladimir Pascalutsa (JGU Mainz)🇩🇪

We evaluate the forward Compton scattering off the proton, based on Kramers-Kronig kind of relations which express the Compton amplitudes in terms of integrals of total photoabsorption cross sections. We obtain two distinct fits to the world data on the unpolarized total photoabsorption cross section, and evaluate the various spin-independent sum rules using these fits. For the sum of proton electric and magnetic dipole polarizabilities, governed by the Baldin sum rule, we obtain the following average (between the two fits): . An analogous sum rule involving the quadrupole polarizabilities of the proton is evaluated too. The spin-independent forward amplitude of proton Compton scattering is evaluated in a broad energy range. The results are compared with previous evaluations and the only experimental data point for this amplitude (at 2.2 GeV). We remark on sum rules for the elastic component of polarizabilities.

Sensitivity to Z-prime and non-standard neutrino interactions from ultra-low threshold neutrino-nucleus coherent scattering

    Bhaskar Dutta🇺🇸 · Rupak Mahapatra🇺🇸 · Louis E. Strigari🇺🇸 · Joel W. Walker🇺🇸

We discuss prospects for probing Z-prime and non-standard neutrino interactions using neutrino-nucleus coherent scattering with ultra-low energy (~ 10 eV) threshold Si and Ge detectors. The analysis is performed in the context of a specific and contemporary reactor-based experimental proposal, developed in cooperation with the Nuclear Science Center at Texas A&M University, and referencing available technology based upon economical and scalable detector arrays. For expected exposures, we show that sensitivity to the Z-prime mass is on the order of several TeV, and is complementary to the LHC search with low mass detectors in the near term. This technology is also shown to provide sensitivity to the neutrino magnetic moment, at a level that surpasses terrestrial limits, and is competitive with more stringent astrophysical bounds. We demonstrate the benefits of combining silicon and germanium detectors for distinguishing between classes of models of new physics, and for suppressing correlated systematic uncertainties.

Coupled-channels description of multinucleon transfer and fusion reactions at energies near and far below the Coulomb barrier

    Guillaume Scamps🇫🇷 · Kouichi Hagino🇯🇵

We investigate heavy-ion multinucleon transfer reactions using the coupled-channels formalism. We first use the semi-classical approximation and show that a direct coupling between the entrance and the pair transfer channels improves a fit to the experimental one- and two-neutron transfer cross sections for the 40Ca+96Zr and 60Ni+116Sn systems. We then discuss the validity of the perturbative approach and highlight the effect of high order terms. The effect of absorption is also investigated for energies around the Coulomb barrier. Finally, we use a quantal coupled-channels approach to achieve a simultaneous description of the fusion cross sections and the transfer probabilities for the 40Ca+96Zr reaction. We find a significant effect of the couplings to the collective excited states on the transfer probabilities around the Coulomb barrier.

Glueballs amass at RHIC and LHC Colliders! - The early quarkless 1st order phase transition at MeV - from pure Yang-Mills glue plasma to GlueBall-Hagedorn states

    Horst Stoecker🇩🇪 · Kai Zhou🇩🇪 · Stefan Schramm🇩🇪 · Florian Senzel🇩🇪 · Carsten Greiner🇩🇪 · Maxim Beitel🇩🇪 · Kai Gallmeister🇩🇪 · Mark Gorenstein🇺🇦 · Igor Mishustin🇩🇪 · David Vasak🇩🇪 · Jan Steinheimer🇩🇪 · Juergen Struckmeier🇩🇪 and 9 other authors

The early stage of high multiplicity pp, pA and AA collider is represented by a nearly quarkless, hot, deconfined pure gluon plasma. According to pure Yang-Mills Lattice Gauge Theory, this hot pure glue matter undergoes, at a high temperature, MeV, a first order phase transition into a confined Hagedorn-GlueBall fluid. These new scenario should be characterized by a suppression of high photons and dileptons, baryon suppression and enhanced strange meson production. We propose to observe this newly predicted class of events at LHC and RHIC.

Electric dipole polarizability: from few- to many-body systems

    Mirko Miorelli · Sonia Bacca🇨🇦 · Nir Barnea🇮🇱 · Gaute Hagen🇺🇸 · Giuseppina Orlandini🇮🇹 · Thomas Papenbrock🇺🇸

We review the Lorentz integral transform coupled-cluster method for the calculation of the electric dipole polarizability. We benchmark our results with exact hyperspherical harmonics calculations for 4He and then we move to a heavier nucleus studying 16O. We observe that the implemented chiral nucleon-nucleon interaction at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order underestimates the electric dipole polarizability.
