    Interpretations of Elastic Electron Scattering

    Elastic scattering of relativistic electrons from the nucleon yields Lorentz invariant form factors that describe the fundamental distribution of charge and magnetism. The spatial dependence of the nucleon's charge and magnetism is typically interpreted in the Breit reference frame which is related by a Lorentz boost from the laboratory frame, where the nucleon is at rest. We construct a toy model to estimate how the charge and magnetic radii of the nucleon are modified between the Breit and lab. frames. This has implications for the ratio of the proton electric to magnetic elastic form factors as a function of momentum transfer as well as for determinations of the proton charge radius. Predicted corrections based on the model are provided for the rms charge radii of the deuteron, the triton, and the helium isotopes.

    Weak Equivalence Principle, Lorentz Non-invariance, and Nuclear Decays

    We consider three possible manifestations of physics beyond the Standard Model, and the relations among them. These are Lorentz non-invariance (LNI), violations of the Weak Equivalence Principle (WEP), and indications of time-varying nuclear decay constants. We present preliminary results from a new experiment indicating the presence of annual and subannual periodicities in decay data, and discuss their implications for physics beyond the Standard Model.

    Flow harmonics at finite density

    We generalize the Gubser solution of viscous hydrodynamics by including the finite density effect and analytically compute the flow harmonics . We explicitly show how and their viscous corrections depend on the chemical potential. The difference in between particles and antiparticles is also analytically computed and shown to be proportional to various chemical potentials and the viscosity. Excellent agreement is obtained between the results and the available experimental data from the SPS, RHIC and the LHC.

    Rapidity window dependences of higher order cumulants and diffusion master equation

    We study the rapidity window dependences of higher order cumulants of conserved charges observed in relativistic heavy ion collisions. The time evolution and the rapidity window dependence of the non-Gaussian fluctuations are described by the diffusion master equation. Analytic formulas for the time evolution of cumulants in a rapidity window are obtained for arbitrary initial conditions. We discuss that the rapidity window dependences of the non-Gaussian cumulants have characteristic structures reflecting the non-equilibrium property of fluctuations, which can be observed in relativistic heavy ion collisions with the present detectors. It is argued that various information on the thermal and transport properties of the hot medium can be revealed experimentally by the study of the rapidity window dependences, especially by the combined use, of the higher order cumulants. Formulas of higher order cumulants for a probability distribution composed of sub-probabilities, which are useful for various studies of non-Gaussian cumulants, are also presented.

    Implication of the observed for studying the process

    We study the charmonium reaction using the effective lagrangian approach where the contributions from well established states are considered, and all parameters are fixed in the process of at center of mass energy GeV. The experimental data on the line shape of the mass distribution of the can be well reproduced. Based on the studying of , the total and differential cross sections of the reaction are predicted. At the same time we evaluated also the cross sections of the reaction. It is shown that the contribution of the nucleon pole to this reaction is largest from the reaction threshold within a wide range. However, the interference between nucleon pole and the other nucleon resonance can still change the angle distributions significantly. Those theoretical results may be test by the future experiments at ANDA.

    Probing lepton non-universality in tau neutrino Scattering

    Recently hints of lepton flavor non-universality emerged in the BaBar and LHCb experiments. In this paper we propose tests of lepton universality in scattering. To parametrize the new physics we adopt an effective Lagrangian approach and consider the neutrino deep inelastic scattering processes and where we assume the largest new physics effects are in the sector. We also consider an explicit leptoquark model in our calculations. In order to make comparison with the standard model and also in order to cancel out the uncertainties of the parton distribution functions, we consider the ratio of total and differential cross sections of tau-neutrino to muon-neutrino scattering. We find new physics effects that can possibly be observed at the proposed Search for Hidden Particles (SHiP) experiment at CERN.

    Energy resolution and efficiency of phonon-mediated Kinetic Inductance Detectors for light detection

    The development of sensitive cryogenic light detectors is of primary interest for bolometric experiments searching for rare events like dark matter interactions or neutrino-less double beta decay. Thanks to their good energy resolution and the natural multiplexed read-out, Kinetic Inductance Detectors (KIDs) are particularly suitable for this purpose. To efficiently couple KIDs-based light detectors to the large crystals used by the most advanced bolometric detectors, active surfaces of several cm are needed. For this reason, we are developing phonon-mediated detectors. In this paper we present the results obtained with a prototype consisting of four 40 nm thick aluminum resonators patterned on a 22 cm silicon chip, and calibrated with optical pulses and X-rays. The detector features a noise resolution eV and an (182) efficiency.

    ALICE light-flavor results at intermediate and high pT in p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions

    The ALICE experiment has unique capabilities for particle identification at mid rapidity over a wide range of transverse momenta, making it an ideal tool for comprehensive measurements of hadrons such as charged pions, kaons, and protons as well as lambdas, K0s, and phi. The transverse momentum distributions and nuclear modification factors, R_pPb and R_PbPb, of these hadrons measured in p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions are presented. Baryon-to-meson ratios exhibit a multiplicity-dependent enhancement at intermediate transverse momenta for both p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions, while no significant dynamics is observed in the ratios at larger transverse momenta. Finally, measurements of identified particle ratios in association with high-pT particles as well as within reconstructed jets are presented.
