The results on the measurements of dp-elastic scattering cross section at the energy 2 GeV at Internal Target Station at the Nuclotron JINR are reported. The data were obtained for the angular range of 70-107 deg. in the c.m.s. by using CH2 and C targets. The results are compared with the existing data and with the theoretical calculations based on the relativistic multiple scattering theory.

Differential cross sections for elastic scattering of photons from the deuteron have recently been measured at the Tagged-Photon Facility at the MAX IV Laboratory in Lund, Sweden. These first new measurements in more than a decade further constrain the isoscalar electromagnetic polarizabilities of the nucleon and provide the first-ever results above 100 MeV, where the sensitivity to the polarizabilities is increased. We add 23 points between 70 and 112 MeV, at angles 60deg, 120deg and 150deg. Analysis of these data using a Chiral Effective Field Theory indicates that the cross sections are both self-consistent and consistent with previous measurements. Extracted values of \alpha_s = [12.1 +/- 0.8(stat) +/- 0.2(BSR) +/- 0.8(th)] X 10^{-4} fm^3 and \beta_s = [2.4 +/- 0.8(stat) +/- 0.2(BSR) +/- 0.8(th)] X 10^{-4} fm^3 are obtained from a fit to these 23 new data points. This paper presents in detail the experimental conditions and the data analysis used to extract the cross sections.

First direct determination of the superallowed -decay -value for O

We report the first direct measurement of the superallowed Fermi -decay -value, the last of the so-called "traditional nine" superallowed Fermi -decays to be measured with Penning trap mass spectrometry. O, along with the other low- superallowed -emitter, C, is crucial for setting limits on the existence of possible scalar currents. The new ground state value, 5144.364(25) keV, when combined with the energy of the daughter state, ~keV [Nucl. Phys. A {\bf{523}}, 1 (1991)], provides a new determination of the superallowed -decay value, keV, with an order of magnitude improvement in precision, and a similar improvement to the calculated statistical rate function . This is used to calculate an improved -value of 3073.8(2.8) s.

Development of time projection chamber for precise neutron lifetime measurement using pulsed cold neutron beams

A new time projection chamber (TPC) was developed for neutron lifetime measurement using a pulsed cold neutron spallation source at the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC). Managing considerable background events from natural sources and the beam radioactivity is a challenging aspect of this measurement. To overcome this problem, the developed TPC has unprecedented features such as the use of polyether-ether-ketone plates in the support structure and internal surfaces covered with Li-enriched tiles to absorb outlier neutrons. In this paper, the design and performance of the new TPC are reported in detail.
