    Measurement of charged jet production cross sections and nuclear modification in p-Pb collisions at \sqrt{s_\rm{NN}} = 5.02 TeV

    Charged jet production cross sections in p-Pb collisions at TeV measured with the ALICE detector at the LHC are presented. Using the anti- algorithm, jets have been reconstructed in the central rapidity region from charged particles with resolution parameters and . The reconstructed jets have been corrected for detector effects and the underlying event background. To calculate the nuclear modification factor, , of charged jets in p-Pb collisions, a pp reference was constructed by scaling previously measured charged jet spectra at TeV. In the transverse momentum range GeV/, is found to be consistent with unity, indicating the absence of strong nuclear matter effects on jet production. Major modifications to the radial jet structure are probed via the ratio of jet production cross sections reconstructed with the two different resolution parameters. This ratio is found to be similar to the measurement in pp collisions at TeV and to the expectations from PYTHIA pp simulations and NLO pQCD calculations at TeV.

    New developments in the experimental data for charged particle production of medical radioisotopes

    The goal of the present work is to give a review of developments achieved experimentally in the field of nuclear data for medically important radioisotopes in the last three years. The availability and precision of production related nuclear data is continuously improved mainly experimentally. This review emphasizes a couple of larger fields: the Mo/Tc generator problem and the generator isotopes in general, heavy alpha-emitters and the rare-earth elements. Other results in the field of medical radioisotope production are also listed.

    Characterization of the TRIGA Mark II reactor full-power steady state

    In this work, the characterization of the full-power steady state of the TRIGA Mark II nuclear reactor of the University of Pavia is performed by coupling Monte Carlo (MC) simulation for neutronics with "Multiphysics" model for thermal-hydraulics. Neutronic analyses have been performed starting from a MC model of the entire reactor system, based on the MCNP5 code, that was already validated in fresh fuel and zero-power configuration (in which thermal effects are negligible) using the available experimental data as benchmark. In order to describe the full-power reactor configuration, the temperature distribution in the core is necessary. To evaluate it, a thermal-hydraulic model has been developed, using the power distribution results from MC simulation as input. The thermal-hydraulic model is focused on the core active region and takes into account sub-cooled boiling effects present at full reactor power. The obtained temperature distribution is then introduced in the MC model and a benchmark analysis is carried out to validate the model in fresh fuel and full-power configuration. The good agreement between experimental data and simulation results concerning full-power reactor criticality, proves the reliability of the adopted methodology of analysis, both from neutronics and thermal-hydraulics perspective.

    Plane correlations in small colliding systems

    I propose event-plane correlations as a test of collectivity in small colliding systems: In d-Au and He-Au collisions, I predict a strong anti-correlation between elliptic and triangular flow, generated by the geometry of the light projectile. A significant anti-correlation is also predicted in central p-Pb collisions at the LHC, which is solely generated by fluctuations. Similar, but stronger correlation patterns are predicted in correlations involving dipolar flow.
