    Evidence for narrow resonant structures at and GeV in real Compton scattering off the proton

    First measurement of the beam asymmetry for Compton scattering off the proton in the energy range GeV is presented. The data reveals two narrow structures at and GeV. They may signal narrow resonances with masses near and GeV, or they may be generated by the sub-threshold and production. Their decisive identification requires additional theoretical and experimental efforts.

    Search for {\eta}'(958)-nucleus bound states by (p,d) reaction at GSI and FAIR

    The mass of the {\eta}' meson is theoretically expected to be reduced at finite density, which indicates the existence of {\eta}'-nucleus bound states. To investigate these states, we perform missing-mass spectroscopy for the (p, d) reaction near the {\eta}' production threshold. The overview of the experimental situation is given and the current status is discussed.

    Gamma-spectrometric determination of 232U in uranium-bearing materials

    The 232U content of various uranium-bearing items was measured using low-background gamma spectrometry. The method is independent of the measurement geometry, sample form and chemical composition. Since 232U is an artificially produced isotope, it carries information about previous irradiation of the material, which is relevant for nuclear forensics, nuclear safeguards and for nuclear reactor operations. A correlation between the 232U content and 235U enrichment of the investigated samples has been established, which is consistent with theoretical predictions. It is also shown how the correlation of the mass ratio 232U/235U vs. 235U content can be used to distinguish materials contaminated with reprocessed uranium from materials made of reprocessed uranium.

    Competition between Coulomb and Symmetry Potential in Semi-peripheral Heavy-ion Collisions

    The anisotropy of angular distributions of emitted nucleons and light charged particles for the asymmetric reaction system, Ar+Au, at b=6fm and =35, 50 and 100MeV/u, are investigated by using the Improved Quantum Molecular Dynamics model. The competition between the symmetry potential and Coulomb potential shows large impacts on the nucleons and light charged particles emission in projectile and target region. As a result of this competition, the angular distribution anisotropy of coalescence invariant Y(n)/Y(p) ratio at forward regions shows sensitivity to the stiffness of symmetry energy as well as the value of Y(n)/Y(p). This observable can be further checked against experimental data to understand the reaction mechanism and to extract information about the symmetry energy at subsaturation densities.

    The transverse momentum dependence of charged kaon Bose-Einstein correlations in the SELEX experiment

    We report on the measurement of the one-dimensional charged kaon correlation functions using 600~GeV/{\it c} , and 540~GeV/{\it c} beams from the SELEX~(E781) experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron. correlation functions are studied for three transverse pair momentum, , ranges and parameterized by a Gaussian form. The emission source radii, , and the correlation strength, , are extracted. The analysis shows a decrease of the source radii with increasing kaon transverse pair momentum for all beam types.

    Scaling of nuclear modification factors for hadrons and light nuclei

    The number of constituent quarks (NCQ-) scaling of hadrons and the number of constituent nucleons (NCN-) scaling of light nuclei are proposed for nuclear modification factors () of hadrons and light nuclei, respectively, according to the experimental investigations in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Based on coalescence mechanism the scalings are performed for pions and protons in quark level, and light nuclei and He for nucleonic level, respectively, formed in Au + Au and Pb + Pb collisions and nice scaling behaviour emerges. NCQ or NCN scaling law of can be respectively taken as a probe for quark or nucleon coalescence mechanism for the formation of hadron or light nuclei in relativistic heavy-ion collisions.

    The role of correlation entropy in nuclear fusion in liquid lithium, indium and mercury

    Nuclear fusion cross-sections considerably higher than corresponding theoretical predictions are observed in low-energy experiments with metal matrix targets and accelerated deuteron beams. The cross-section increment is significantly higher for liquid than for solid targets. We propose that the same two-body correlation entropy used in evaluating the metal melting entropy explains the large liquid-solid difference of the effective screening potential that parameterizes the cross-section increment. This approach is applied to the specific case of the Li(d,)He reaction, whose measured screening potential liquid-solid difference is eV. Cross sections in the two metals with the highest two-body correlation entropy (In and Hg) have not yet been measured: increments of the cross sections in liquid relative to the ones in solid metals are estimated with the same procedure.
