    Suppression of inclusive J/ and (2S) production in p-Pb collisions with ALICE at the LHC

    The ALICE Collaboration has studied inclusive J/ and (2S) production in p-Pb collisions at TeV with the Muon Spectrometer. The measurement was performed at forward (2.03 3.53) and backward (4.46 2.96) centre of mass rapidities. The nuclear modification factor of J/ and (2S) has been measured as a function of transverse momentum and event activity. Theoretical models based on nuclear shadowing, coherent energy loss or both are in reasonable agreement with the J/ results but cannot describe the (2S) behaviour. Other mechanisms must be invoked in order to explain the (2S) suppression in p-Pb collisions.

    Form Factors in the Algebraic Cluster Model

    I present a derivation of form factors in the Algebraic Cluster Model for an arbitrary number of identical clusters. The form factors correspond to representation matrix elements which are derived in closed form for the harmonic oscillator and deformed oscillator limits. These results are relevant for applications in nuclear, molecular and hadronic physics.

    Status of the MAJORANA Demonstrator

    The MAJORANA Collaboration is constructing the MAJORANA Demonstrator, an ultra-low background, 40-kg modular high purity Ge detector array to search for neutrinoless double-beta decay in Ge. In view of the next generation of tonne-scale Ge-based neutrinoless double-beta decay searches that will probe the neutrino mass scale in the inverted-hierarchy region, a major goal of the Demonstrator is to demonstrate a path forward to achieving a background rate at or below 1 count/tonne/year in the 4 keV region of interest around the Q-value at 2039 keV. The current status of the Demonstrator is discussed, as are plans for its completion.

    Parametrization for chemical freeze-out conditions from net-charge fluctuations measured at RHIC

    We discuss details of our thermal model applied to extract chemical freeze-out conditions from fluctuations in the net-electric charge and net-proton number measured at RHIC. A parametrization for these conditions as a function of the beam energy is given.

    UrQMD Study of the Effects of Centrality Definitions on Higher Moments of Net Protons at RHIC

    A study using UrQMD is presented concerning the higher moments of net protons from Au+Au collisions at 7.7, 11.5, 14.6, 19.6, 27, 39, 62.4, and 200 GeV, concentrating on . Higher moments of net protons are predicted to be a sensitive probe of the critical point of QCD. At the QCD critical point, particular ratios of the moments of net protons are predicted to differ from the Poisson baseline. Recently STAR has published the higher moments of net protons for Au+Au collisions at = 7.7, 11.5, 19.6, 27, 39, 62.4, and 200 GeV. UrQMD quantitatively reproduces STAR's measured for net protons for all Au+Au collisions more central than 30\% and at all centralities for = 7.7 and 11.5 GeV. The effects are investigated of three different centrality definitions on the values of from UrQMD calculations including the impact parameter given by UrQMD. It is shown that using a centrality definition based on multiplicity to calculate the higher moments of net protons gives a biased answer for , except in the most central bin (0-5\%).
