    Activation cross-sections of deuteron induced reactions on Sm up to 50 MeV

    Activation cross-sections for deuteron induced reactions on Sm are presented for the first time for Sm(d,xn)Eu, Sm(d,x)Sm and Sm(d,x)Pm up to 50 MeV. The cross-sections were measured by the stacked-foil irradiation technique and high resolution -ray spectrometry. The results were compared with results of nuclear reaction codes ALICE-D, EMPIRE-D and TALYS (from TENDL libraries). Integral yields of the products were calculated from the excitation functions.

    Reaction-in-Flight Neutrons as a Test of Stopping Power in Degenerate Plasmas

    We present the first measurements of reaction-in-flight (RIF) neutrons in an inertial confinement fusion system. The experiments were carried out at the National Ignition Facility, using both Low Foot and High Foot drives and cryogenic plastic capsules. In both cases, the high-energy RIF ( 15 MeV) component of the neutron spectrum was found to be about of the total. The majority of the RIF neutrons were produced in the dense cold fuel surrounding the burning hotspot of the capsule and the data are consistent with a compressed cold fuel that is moderately to strongly coupled 0.6) and electron degenerate 4). The production of RIF neutrons is controlled by the stopping power in the plasma. Thus, the current RIF measurements provide a unique test of stopping power models in an experimentally unexplored plasma regime. We find that the measured RIF data strongly constrain stopping models in warm dense plasma conditions and some models are ruled out by our analysis of these experiments.

    QCD symmetries and the eta and etaprime in nuclei

    We discuss the role of QCD symmetries in understanding the eta and etaprime mesons in nuclear media. Recent results on the etaprime mass in nuclei from the CBELSA/TAPS collaboration are very similar to the prediction of the Quark Meson Coupling model.

    Cumulative processes out off the nucleus fragmentation region

    In this report the first results of cumulative particle production in the new kinematic region will be presented. The produced particles have momenta more than 2 GeV/c in the rest system of nuclear target. Such studies can significantly reduce the corrections associated with the processes of the initial(ISI) and final states(FSI) interactions.
