    Production of high-PT cumulative particles in proton-nucleus interactions at 50 GeV

    The data on production of cumulative particles in the high transverse momenta domain (up to ~ 3.5 GeV/c) in proton-nucleus interactions are presented for the first time. An indication on the local character of particle production in the cumulative domain is obtained. The observed strong dependence of the particle production cross section on the atomic mass of the target does not fit the A - dependence obtained in the pre-cumulative and cumulative domains for low transverse momenta at constant part of the exponent. The experiment was performed at U70 (IHEP) with the extracted 50 GeV/c proton beam.

    Elliptic and triangular flow of heavy flavor in heavy-ion collisions

    We investigate the elliptic and the triangular flow of heavy mesons in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and the LHC. The dynamics of heavy quarks is coupled to the locally thermalized and fluid dynamically evolving quark-gluon plasma. The elliptic flow of mesons and the centrality dependence measured at the LHC is well reproduced for purely collisional and bremsstrahlung interactions. Due to the event-by-event fluctuating initial conditions from the EPOS2 model, the meson triangular flow is predicted to be nonzero at GeV and TeV. We study the centrality dependence and quantify the contributions stemming from flow of the light bulk event and the hadronization process. The flow coefficients as response to the initial eccentricities behave differently for heavy mesons than for light hadrons due to their inertia. Higher-order flow coefficients of heavy flavor become important in order to quantify the degree of thermalization.

    Baryon susceptibilities, nongaussian moments and the QCD critical point

    We calculate model-independently the impact of the critical point on higher order baryon susceptibilities , showing how they depend on fluctuations of the order parameter. Including all tree level diagrams, we find new contributions to equally important to the kurtosis of the order parameter fluctuations, and we characterize the kurtosis and other nonguassian moments as functions on the phase diagram. Important features of this analysis are then confirmed by a Gross-Neveu model study with good agreement with other model studies as well as lattice and experimental data. This suggests the universality of the characteristic peak in baryon susceptibilities as a signal of the critical point. We discuss leveraging measurements of different to extrapolate the location of the critical point.
