Production and Elliptic Flow of Dileptons and Photons in the semi-Quark Gluon Plasma

We consider the thermal production of dileptons and photons at temperatures above the critical temperature in QCD. We use a model where color excitations are suppressed by a small value of the Polyakov loop, the semi Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP). Comparing the semi-QGP to the perturbative QGP, we find a mild enhancement of thermal dileptons. In contrast, to leading logarithmic order in weak coupling there are far fewer hard photons from the semi-QGP than the usual QGP. To illustrate the possible effects on photon and dileptons production in heavy ion collisions, we integrate the rate with a realistic hydrodynamic simulation. Dileptons uniformly exhibit a small flow, but the strong suppression of photons in the semi-QGP tends to bias the elliptical flow of photons to that generated in the hadronic phase.

Compression and Encryption of Search Survey Gamma Spectra using Compressive Sensing

Alexander Heifetz · Sasan Bakhtiari · Apostolos C. Raptis

We have investigated the application of Compressive Sensing (CS) computational method to simultaneous compression and encryption of gamma spectra measured with NaI(Tl) detector during wide area search survey applications. Our numerical experiments have demonstrated secure encryption and nearly lossless recovery of gamma spectra coded and decoded with CS routines.

Proposal; Precise measurements of very forward particle production at RHIC

We propose a new experiment Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider forward (RHICf) for the precise measurements of very forward particle production at RHIC. The proposal is to install the LHCf Arm2 detector in the North side of the ZDC installation slot at the PHENIX interaction point. By installing high-resolution electromagnetic calorimeters at this location we can measure the spectra of photons, neutrons and pi0 at pseudorapidity eta>6.

Proton-neutron pairing vibrations in N=Z nuclei: Precursory soft mode of isoscalar pairing condensation

    Kenichi Yoshida🇯🇵

L=0 proton-neutron () pair-addition and pair-removal strengths in Ca and Ni are investigated by means of the particle-particle random-phase approximation employing a Skyrme energy-density functional. It is found that the collectivity of the lowest state in the adjacent odd-odd nuclei becomes stronger as the strength of the isoscalar (T=0) pairing interaction increases. The results suggest the emergence of the T=0 -pairing vibrational mode as a possible critical phenomenon toward the T=0 pairing condensation.
