Fast evaluation and locality of overlap fermions

    W. Bietenholz🇩🇪 · I. Hip🇩🇪 · K. Schilling🇩🇪

In order to construct improved overlap fermions, we start from a short ranged approximate Ginsparg-Wilson fermion and insert it into the overlap formula. We show that its polynomial evaluation is accelerated considerably compared to the standard Neuberger fermion. In addition the degree of locality is strongly improved.

    The Static Baryon Potential

    C. Alexandrou (Univ. of Cyprus)🇨🇾 · Ph. de Forcrand (CERN and ETH-Zurich)🇨🇭 · A. Tsapalis (Univ. of Athens)🇬🇷

Using state of the art lattice techniques we investigate the static baryon potential. We employ the multi-hit procedure for the time links and a variational approach to determine the ground state with sufficient accuracy that, for distances up to fm, we can distinguish the - and - Ansätze for the baryonic Wilson area law. Our analysis shows that the -Ansatz is favoured. This result is also supported by the gauge-invariant nucleon wave function which we measure for the first time.
