Low-Scale Technicolor at the Tevatron

Abstract

In multiscale models of walking technicolor, relatively light color-singlet technipions are produced in $q\text{ol}q$ annihilation in association with longitudinal $W$ and $Z$ bosons and with each other. The technipions decay as $\text{tpiz}\text{ra}b\text{ol}b$ and $\text{tpip}\text{ra}c\text{ol}b$. Their production rates are resonantly enhanced by isovector technirho vector mesons with mass $M_W+M_{\text{tpi}}\text{simle}{M}_{\text{tro}}\text{simle}2M_{\text{tpi}}$. At the Tevatron, these associated production rates are 1--10 picobarns for $M_{\text{tpi}}\simeq 100\text{gev}$. Such a low mass technipion requires topcolor-assisted technicolor to suppress the decay $t\text{ra}\text{tpip}b$. Searches for $\text{tpi}\text{tpi}$ production will also be rewarding. Sizable rates are expected if $M_{\text{tro}}\text{simge}2M_{\text{tpi}}+10\text{gev}$. The isoscalar ${\omega }_T$ is nearly degenerate with $\text{tro}$ and is expected to be produced at roughly the same rate. The ${\omega }_T$ should have the distinctive decay modes ${\omega }_T\text{ra}\gamma \text{tpiz}$ and $Z\text{tpiz}$.
