Abstract

The effects of an extra $Z^{'}$ gauge boson with family nonuniversal fermion couplings on the rare top quark decay $t - - > c$ gamma $a r e f i r s t e x amin e d inam o d e l in d e p e n d e n tw a y an d t h e nin t h e minima l 331 m o d e l . I t i s f o u n d t ha tt h er es p ec t i v e b r an c hin g f r a c t i o ni s a t m os t o f t h eor d er o f$ 10^{-8} $f or$ m_{Z'}=500 $G e V an dd r ama t i c a l l y d ecr e a ses f or ah e a v i er$ Z' $b oso n . T hi sr es u l t s i s in s ha r p co n t r a s tw i t ha p r e v i o u se v a l u a t i o n o f t hi s d ec a y in t h eco n t e x t o f t o p co l or a ss i s t e d t ec hni co l or m o d e l s, w hi c h f o u n d t ha t$ B(t --> c \gamma)\sim 10^{-6} $f or$ m_{Z'}=1$ TeV.
