Final State Interactions in Decays of the Exotic $π_{1}$ Meson

Abstract

We analyze the role of final state interactions in decay of the lighest exotic meson, $p i_{1}$ with $J^{P C} = 1^{-+} . W e u se t h er e l a t i v i s t i c L i pp mann - S c h w in g er e q u a t i o n f or tw oco u pl e d$ \pi b_{1} $an d$ \pi\rho $c hann e l s . T h e f i r s t o n e i s t h e p r e d i c t e dd o minan t d ec a y m o d eo f t h e$ \pi_{1} $, w h er e a s in t h eo t h er ana r r o w$ \pi_1(1600) $e x o t i cs i g na l ha s b ee n r e p or t e d b y t h e E 852 co l l ab or a t i o n . T h e F S I p o t e n t ia l i sco n s t r u c t e d, ba se d o n t h e$ \omega $m eso n e x c han g e b e tw ee n t h e tw oc hann e l s . W e f in d t ha tt hi s p r ocess in t r o d u cescor r ec t i o n s t o t h e$ \pi_{1} $w i d t h so f t h eor d er o f o n l y a f e w M e V . T h er e f or e, w eco n c l u d e t ha t a s u b s t an t ia l$ \pi\rho$ mode cannot be generated through level mixing.
