Supernova Neutrinos, LSND and MiniBooNE

Abstract

The unique constraints on neutrino oscillations which can be obtained by measuring the energy spectrum of supernova 's are first discussed. The focus is on 4-neutrino mass and mixing models capable of explaining the LSND evidence of oscillations. The potential of the Fermilab neutrino detector MiniBooNE to observe supernova neutrinos is then addressed, and a general description of the detector is given. As of May, 2002, the MiniBooNE detector is fully operational.
