Light cone distributions of -wave quarkonia

Abstract

Motivated by renewed interest in the light-cone distributions of -wave quarkonia, we investigate the leading-twist distribution amplitudes of these states within the basis light-front quantization (BLFQ) formalism. While our extracted distributions exhibit macroscopic shapes consistent with expectations from the non-relativistic limit, we find that relativistic effects introduce critical structural features. Most notably, we observe novel ``W"-shaped structures in the distribution amplitudes of the axial vector mesons, which arise from relativistically induced partial waves and cannot be explained by non-relativistic dynamics. These findings provide essential non-perturbative inputs for analyzing hard exclusive processes and highlight the importance of relativistic frameworks for understanding heavy quarkonium production and structure at modern high-energy colliders.
