Abstract

We propose simulation strategies for single production of third generation vector-like quarks at the LHC, implementing next-to-leading-order corrections in QCD and studying in detail their effect on cross sections and differential distributions. We also investigate the differences and the relative incertitudes induced by the use of the Four-Flavour Number Scheme the Five-Flavour Number Scheme. As a phenomenological illustration, we concentrate on the production of vector-like quarks coupling to the third generation of the Standard Model in association with a jet and assuming standard couplings to gauge and Higgs bosons.
