Abstract
Strong decays of baryons with radial or orbital excitations with positive parity have been studied in a model. As candidates of these , possible configurations and of , , , and have been assigned. There are kinds of configurations to describe these excited . In these assignments, may be a -wave excited or , or a -wave excited , , , , or . may be a -wave excited or with , or a -wave excited or with . may be a -wave excited or . It may be a -wave excited , , or . is very possibly a -wave excited , and seems not a -wave excitation of . For the poor experimental information of , it is impossible to identify this state at present. It is found that the channel vanishes in the strong decay of -wave, -wave and -wave excited without - mode excitation between the two light quarks (). Some branching fraction ratios have been computed and can be employed to distinguish different configurations in forthcoming experiments.
