Investigations of Double Parton Scattering: Example of $pp\to b\bar{b}\mathrm{jet}\mathrm{jet}\mathrm{X}$

Abstract

Signature kinematic variables and characteristic concentrations in phase space of double parton scattering are discussed. These properties should allow the double parton contribution to $pp\to b\bar{b}\mathrm{jetjet}\mathrm{X}$ at Large Hadron Collider energies to be distinguished from the usual single parton scattering contribution. A methodology is suggested to measure the size of the double-parton cross section.
