Double parton scattering versus jet quenching

    S. P. Baranov🇷🇺 · A. V. Lipatov🇷🇺 · M. A. Malyshev🇷🇺 · A. M. Snigirev🇷🇺

A novel observable, the double nuclear modification factor, is proposed to probe simultaneously the initial and final state effects in nucleus-nucleus collisions. An interesting competition between the combinatorial enhancement in the double parton scattering and the suppression due to parton energy loss can be observed in the production rate of two hard particles. In particular, the production of mesons in association with a boson is not suppressed but is enhanced in the region of moderate transverse momenta, unlike the case of unassociated (inclusive) production. At the same time, in the region of high enough transverse momenta the nuclear modification factor for associated production converges to that of unassociated .

Superallowed nuclear beta decays and precision tests of the Standard Model

    Mikhail Gorchtein🇩🇪 · Chien Yeah Seng🇺🇸

For many decades, the main source of information on the top-left corner element of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa quark mixing matrix were superallowed nuclear beta decays with an impressive 0.01\% precision. This precision, apart from experimental data, relies on theoretical calculations in which nuclear structure-dependent effects and uncertainties play a prime role. This review is dedicated to a thorough reassessment of all ingredients that enter the extraction of the value of from experimental data. We tried to keep balance between historical retrospect and new developments, many of which occurred in just five past years. They have not yet been reviewed in a complete manner, not least because new results are a-coming. This review aims at filling this gap and offers an in-depth yet accessible summary of all recent developments.

Relativistic second-order dissipative and anisotropic fluid dynamics in the relaxation-time approximation for an ideal gas of massive particles

Victor Ambrus · Etele Molnár · Dirk H. Rischke

In this paper, we study all transport coefficients of second-order dissipative fluid dynamics derived by V. E. Ambrus et al. [Phys. Rev. D 106, 076005 (2022)] from the relativistic Boltzmann equation in the relaxation-time approximation for the collision integral. These transport coefficients are computed for a classical ideal gas of massive particles, with and without taking into account the conservation of intrinsic quantum numbers. Through rigorous comparison between kinetic theory, second-order dissipative fluid dynamics, and leading-order anisotropic fluid dynamics for a (0+1)--dimensional boost-invariant flow scenario, we show that both fluid-dynamical theories describe the early far-from-equilibrium stage of the expansion reasonably well.

Shell-model study for Tl isotopes and core excitations across the and shell gaps

Bharti Bhoy · Praveen C. Srivastava

In the present work, the Tl isotopes have been investigated by performing large-scale shell-model calculations, including configurations allowing both neutron and proton core excitations across the = 82 and = 126 shell gaps. Inspired by the recent high-spin experimental data, the structure of Tl isotopes has been studied for a considerably large model space. The KHHE interaction has been used for Tl isotopes, KHH7B interaction for Tl isotopes, and additionally KHM3Y interaction has been used for Tl isotope. The core excitation has been performed using the KHH7B and KHM3Y interactions. The level spectra of Tl isotopes are comprehensively described and explained by multi-nucleon couplings of single-particle-hole orbitals within the valence space and by core excitations across Pb core. The well-known isomeric states are analyzed in terms of the shell model configurations.
