Universality Classes of Relativistic Fluid Dynamics: Applications

    L. Gavassino🇺🇸 · M. M. Disconzi🇺🇸 · J. Noronha🇺🇸

Using a formalism that was recently developed in a companion paper, we rigorously prove the equivalence, in the linear regime, of a number of apparently different relativistic hydrodynamic theories proposed in the literature. In particular, we show that Hydro+ is indistinguishable from the Israel-Stewart theory for bulk viscosity, which in turn is indistinguishable from a reacting mixture. The two-fluid model for superfluidity coincides with the Israel-Stewart theory for heat conduction in the limit of infinite conductivity, and this explains why the latter has a second sound. Also, MIS is equivalent to the Burgers model for viscoelasticity, and this implies that the former must exhibit an elastic behavior at high frequencies. Additionally, we show that if the degrees of freedom and the conservation laws of a hydrodynamic theory have the same geometric character as those of the Israel-Stewart theory, then such theory must be indistinguishable from the Israel-Stewart theory in the linear regime. This explains why all second-order theories turn out to be identical near equilibrium. Finally, we construct the first linearized model for a relativistic supersolid that is proven to be causal, stable, and strongly hyperbolic.

Correlations Between Neutrinoless Double-Beta, Double Gamow-Teller and Double-Magnetic Decays in the pnQRPA Framework

    Lotta Jokiniemi🇨🇦 · Javier Menéndez🇪🇸

We explore the relation between the nuclear matrix elements of neutrinoless double-beta () decay and two other processes: double Gamow-Teller (DGT) and double-magnetic dipole (M1M1) transitions, with focus on medium-mass to heavy nuclei studied with the proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation (pnQRPA) framework. We explore a wide span of isoscalar proton-neutron pairing strengths covering the typical range of values that describe well - and two-neutrino -decay data. Our results indicate good linear correlations between and both DGT and M1M1 matrix elements. Together with future measurements of DGT and M1M1 transitions, these correlations could help constrain the values of the -decay nuclear matrix elements.

Two-loop hard thermal loops for any model

    Andreas Ekstedt🇩🇪

Hard thermal loops describe how soft gauge fields are screened and damped in hot plasmas. As such they are used to calculate transport coefficients, Sphaleron rates, equations of state, and particle production. However, most calculations are done using one-loop self-energies. And two-loop contributions can be large. To that end this paper provides vector two-loop self-energies for generic models: Any scalar, fermion, or vector representation; and all possible renormalizable terms. Several examples are given to showcase the results. Two-loop results for higher-point functions are also given.

Model-independent Odderon results based on TOTEM data on elastic proton-proton scattering at 8 TeV

    T. Csörgő ((1) and (2))🇭🇺 · T. Novák (2)🇭🇺 · R. Pasechnik (3)🇸🇪 · A. Ster (1)🇭🇺 · I. Szanyi (1, 2 and 4) ((1) Wigner RCP, Budapest, Hungary, (2) MATE Institute of Technology KRC, Gyöngyös, Hungary, (3) University of Lund, Lund, Sweden and (4) Eötvös University, Budapest, Hungary)🇭🇺

We complete the model-independent analysis of the scaling properties of the differential cross section of elastic proton-proton cross sections, including new TOTEM data published in 2022 at TeV. We separate the signal and the background region with a new gating method. In the signal region, we find that the statistical significance of Odderon exchange from the combined 7.0 and 8.0 TeV data of TOTEM and the 1.96 TeV data of D0 is at least 7.32. In the background region, the scaling functions of elastic proton-proton data at 7 and 8 TeV and that of elastic proton-antiproton scattering data at 1.96 TeV agree with a statistical significance not larger than 1.93.
