Quasi-elastic electron scattering with KIDS nuclear energy density functional

    Hana Gil🇰🇷 · Chang Ho Hyun🇰🇷 · Kyungsik Kim🇰🇷

Isoscalar and isovector effective masses of the nucleon in nuclear medium are explored in the quasi-elastic electron scattering of nuclei with KIDS (Korea-IBS-Daegu-SKKU) density functional model. Effective masses are varied in the range (0.7 ~ 1.0) where is the mass of the nucleon in free space. Parameters in the KIDS functional are adjusted to nuclear matter equation of state, energy and radius of selected nuclei, and effective mass of nucleons. Hartree-Fock equation is solved to obtain the wave functions of the nucleon in target nuclei, and they are plugged in the calculation of electron-nucleus scattering cross sections at the energies of incident electrons 300 MeV ~ 2.5 GeV. Theoretical prediction agrees well with measurement. Dependence on the effective mass is evident: cross section tends to increase with small isoscalar effective masses. However, effect of isovector effective mass is negligible. Spectroscopic factors are estimated for the protons in the outermost shells of O, Ca, and Pb. Results are consistent with the values in the literature.

Sensitivity study of \emph{r}-process abundances to nuclear masses

    Xiao-Fei Jiang🇨🇳 · Xin-Hui Wu🇨🇳 · Peng-Wei Zhao🇨🇳

The impact of nuclear mass uncertainties on the \emph{r}-process abundances has been systematically studied with the classical \emph{r}-process model by varying the mass of every individual nucleus in the range of to based on six different mass models. A new quantitative relation between the uncertainties of \emph{r}-process abundances and those of the nuclear masses is extracted, i.e., a mass uncertainty of would lead to an abundance uncertainty of a factor around 2.5. It is found that this conclusion holds true for various mass models.

Double strangeness production as a probe of nuclear equation of state at high densities

    Gao-Chan Yong🇨🇳 · Zhi-Gang Xiao🇨🇳 · Yuan Gao🇨🇳 · Zi-Wei Lin🇺🇸

Double strangeness production in Au+Au collisions at 2, 4, and 6 GeV/nucleon incident beam energies is studied with the pure hadron cascade version of a multi-phase transport model. It is found that due to larger nuclear compression, the model with the soft equation of state (EoS) gives larger yields of both single strangeness ( and ) and double strangeness . The sensitivity of the double strangeness to the EoS is evidently larger than that of or since the phase-space distribution of produced is more compact compared to those of the single strangeness. The larger sensitivity of the yields ratio of to the EoS from heavy and light systems is kept compared to that of the single strangeness. The study of production in relativistic heavy-ion collisions provides an alternative for the ongoing heavy-ion collision program at facilities worldwide for identifying the EoS at high densities, which is relevant to the investigation of the phase boundary and onset of deconfinement of dense nuclear matter.

Quark Nova with the Producing of Color-Flavor Locked Quark Matter

    Jia-Rui Guo🇨🇳

In this paper, we suggest that the process in quark nova explosion may exist widely in various kinds of supernova, although it only happens in a small part in the core in most cases. And the contribution to the energy releasing of whole supernova explosion can also be provided by QCD interacting term. In this way we derive a general equation of energy quantity to be released in quark nova process related to several parameters. After quark nova explosion process, the remnant can be a quark star, or a neutron star with quark matter core if this process only happens in a small part inside the compact star instead of a "full" quark nova. We will also use a more generalized approach to analyse the strangelets released from quark nova and will draw a possible interpretation of why effects caused by strangelets have not been observed yet. Our result suggests that the ordinary matter can only spontaneously transform into strange quark matter by crushing them into high pressure under the extreme condition in compact star, although generally the reaction would really be exergonic.

Heavy quark potential in quark-gluon Plasma: Deep neural network meets lattice quantum chromodynamics

    Shuzhe Shi🇨🇦 · Kai Zhou🇩🇪 · Jiaxing Zhao🇨🇳 · Swagato Mukherjee🇺🇸 · Pengfei Zhuang🇨🇳

Bottomonium states are key probes for experimental studies of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) created in high-energy nuclear collisions. Theoretical models of bottomonium productions in high-energy nuclear collisions rely on the in-medium interactions between the bottom and antibottom quarks. The latter can be characterized by the temperature () dependent potential, with real () and imaginary () parts, as a function of the spatial separation (). Recently, the masses and thermal widths of up to and bottomonium states in QGP were calculated using lattice quantum chromodynamics (LQCD). Starting from these LQCD results and through a novel application of deep neural network, here, we obtain and in a model-independent fashion. The temperature dependence of was found to be very mild between ~MeV. For ~MeV, shows a rapid increase with and , which is much larger than the perturbation-theory-based expectations.

Diffusion as a leading dissipative mechanism in superconducting neutron stars

    K.Y. Kraav🇷🇺 · M.E. Gusakov🇷🇺 · E.M. Kantor🇷🇺

Despite the fact that different particle species can diffuse with respect to each other in neutron star (NS) cores, the effect of particle diffusion on various phenomena associated with NS oscillations is usually ignored. Here we demonstrate that the diffusion can be extremely powerful dissipative mechanism in superconducting NSs. In particular, it can be much more efficient than the shear and bulk viscosities. This result has important implications for the damping times of NS oscillations, development and saturation of dynamical instabilities in NSs, and for the excitation and coupling of oscillation modes during the late inspiral of binary NSs.

Azimuthal correlations in diffractive scattering at the Electron-Ion Collider

    Adrian Dumitru🇺🇸 · Heikki Mäntysaari🇫🇮 · Risto Paatelainen🇫🇮 · Kaushik Roy🇩🇪 · Farid Salazar🇺🇸 · Björn Schenke🇺🇸

We calculate azimuthal correlations between the exclusively produced vector meson and the scattered electron in Deep Inelastic Scattering processes at the future Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). We identify "kinematical" and "intrinsic" contributions to these correlations, and show that the correlations are sensitive to the non-trivial correlations in the gluon distribution of the target. Realistic predictions at the EIC kinematics are provided using two different approaches to describe the dipole-proton interaction at relatively small .

Positive magnetoresistance induced by hydrodynamic fluctuations in chiral media

    Noriyuki Sogabe🇨🇳 · Naoki Yamamoto🇯🇵 · Yi Yin🇨🇳

We analyze the combined effects of hydrodynamic fluctuations and chiral magnetic effect (CME) for a chiral medium in the presence of a background magnetic field. Based on the recently developed non-equilibrium effective field theory, we show fluctuations give rise to a CME-related positive contribution to magnetoresistance, while the early studies without accounting for the fluctuations find a CME-related negative magnetoresistance. At zero axial relaxation rate, the fluctuations contribute to the transverse conductivity in addition to the longitudinal one.
