    The soft drop groomed jet radius at NLL

    We present results for the soft drop groomed jet radius at next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. The radius of a groomed jet which corresponds to the angle between the two branches passing the soft drop criterion is one of the characteristic observables relevant for the precise understanding of groomed jet substructure. We establish a factorization formalism that allows for the resummation of all relevant large logarithms, which is based on demonstrating the all order equivalence to a jet veto in the region between the boundaries of the groomed and ungroomed jet. Non-global logarithms including clustering effects due to the Cambridge/Aachen algorithm are resummed to all orders using a suitable Monte Carlo algorithm. We perform numerical calculations and find a very good agreement with Pythia 8 simulations. We provide theoretical predictions for the LHC and RHIC.

    A cross-channel study of pion scattering from lattice QCD

    We use a chiral model for pion interactions, in the inverse amplitude formalism, to perform a simultaneous analysis of lattice QCD results for pion-pion scattering in all three isospin channels. The input is the finite-volume two-pion spectrum computed using lattice QCD from six ensembles on lattices elongated in one of the spatial dimensions. A two-flavor dynamical lattice QCD action is used with two quark masses corresponding to a pion mass of 315 MeV and 224 MeV. The spectrum in the elastic region is subjected to a global fit which takes into account full correlations across isospin, pion mass and decay constant. The parameters from the fit are used to perform a chiral extrapolation to the physical point. The cross-channel fit results in a more precise determination of the parameters of the model when compared with single channel fits. We obtain , and as well as MeV and MeV. Several aspects of scale setting and consistency with previous analyses of lattice QCD results are discussed as well.

    Meson condensation

    We give a pedagogical review of the properties of the various meson condensation phases triggered by a large isospin or strangeness imbalance. We argue that these phases are extremely interesting and powerful playground for exploring the properties of hadronic matter. The reason is that they are realized in a regime in which various theoretical methods overlap with increasingly precise numerical lattice QCD simulations, providing insight on the properties of color confinement and of chiral symmetry breaking.
