A Spectral Approach for Solving the Nonclassical Transport Equation

    R. Vasques · L.R.C. Moraes · R.C. Barros · R.N. Slaybaugh

This paper introduces a mathematical approach that allows one to numerically solve the nonclassical transport equation in a deterministic fashion using classical numerical procedures. The nonclassical transport equation describes particle transport for random statistically homogeneous systems in which the distribution function for free-paths between scattering centers is nonexponential. We use a spectral method to represent the nonclassical flux as a series of Laguerre polynomials in the free-path variable , resulting in a nonclassical equation that has the form of a classical transport equation. We present numerical results that validate the spectral approach, considering transport in slab geometry for both classical and nonclassical problems in the discrete ordinates formulation.

    Charmed baryons in nuclear matter

    T. F. Caramés🇪🇸 · C. E. Fontoura🇧🇷 · G. Krein🇧🇷 · J. Vijande🇪🇸 · A. Valcarce🇪🇸

We study the temperature and baryon density dependence of the masses of the lightest charmed baryons , and . We also look at the effects of the temperature and baryon density on the binding energies of the and systems. Baryon masses and baryon-baryon interactions are evaluated within a chiral constituent quark model. Medium effects are incorporated in those parameters of the model related to the dynamical breaking of chiral symmetry, which are the masses of the constituent quarks, the and meson masses, and quark-meson couplings. We find that while the in-medium mass decreases monotonically with temperature, those of and have a nonmonotonic dependence. These features can be understood in terms of a simple group theory analysis regarding the one-gluon exchange interaction in those hadrons. The in-medium and interactions are governed by a delicate balance involving a stronger attraction due to the decrease of the meson mass, suppression of coupled-channel effects and lower thresholds, leading to shallow bound states with binding energies of a few~MeV. The baryon could possibly be bound to a large nucleus, in qualitative agreement with results based on relativistic mean field models or QCD sum rules. Ongoing experiments at RHIC or LHCb or the planned ones at FAIR and J-PARC may take advantage of the present results.

Identified particle production in Xe+Xe collisions at = 5.44 TeV using a multiphase transport model

    Rutuparna Rath🇮🇳 · Sushanta Tripathy🇮🇳 · Raghunath Sahoo🇮🇳 · Sudipan De🇮🇳 · Mohammed Younus🇿🇦

Xe+Xe collisions at relativistic energies provide us with an opportunity to study a possible system with deconfined quarks and gluons, whose size is in between those produced by p+p and Pb+Pb collisions. In the present work, we have used AMPT transport model with nuclear deformation to study the identified particle production such as (), (K+K), , (p+), and () in Xe+Xe collisions at =5.44 TeV. We study the -spectra, integrated yield, -differential and -integrated particle ratios to () and (K+K) as a function of collision centrality. The particle ratios are focused on strange to non-strange ratios and baryon to meson ratios. The effect of deformations has also been highlighted by comparing our results to non-deformation case. We have also compared the results from AMPT string melting and AMPT default version to explore possible effects of coalescence mechanism. We observe that the differential particle ratios show strong dependence with centrality while the integrated particle ratios show no centrality dependence. We give thermal model estimation of chemical freeze-out temperature and the Boltzmann-Gibbs Blast Wave analysis of kinetic freeze-out temperature and collective radial flow in Xe+Xe collisions at = 5.44 TeV.
