    seniority changing transitions in yrast states and B(E3) systematics of Sn isotopes

    We show for the first time that the generalized seniority scheme explains reasonably well the systematics for the transitions in the Sn-isotopes, which are odd-tensor transitions connecting different seniority states (). Additionally, we also present Large Scale Shell Model (LSSM) calculations to support our interpretation. The generalized seniority scheme points to the octupole character of these states in Sn isotopes.

    EoS constraints from nuclear masses and radii in a meta-modeling approach

    The question of correlations among empirical equation of state (EoS) parameters constrained by nuclear observables is addressed in a fully empirical meta-modeling approach. A recently proposed meta-modeling for the nuclear EoS in nuclear matter, is augmented with a single finite size term to produce a minimal unified EoS functional able to describe the smooth part of the nuclear ground state properties. This meta-model can reproduce the predictions of a large variety of models, and interpolate continuously between them. The parameter space is sampled and filtered through the constraint of nuclear mass reproduction. We show that this simple analytical meta-modeling has a predictive power on masses, radii, and skins comparable to full HF or ETF calculations with realistic energy functionals. The covariance analysis on the posterior distribution shows that no physical correlation is present between the different EoS parameters. Concerning nuclear observables, a strong correlation between the slope of the symmetry energy and the neutron skin is observed, in agreement with previous studies.

    Systematic errors in transport calculations of shear viscosity using the Green-Kubo formalism

    The purpose of this study is to provide a reproducible framework in the use of the Green-Kubo formalism to extract transport coefficients. More specifically, in the case of shear viscosity, we investigate the limitations and technical details of fitting the auto-correlation function to a decaying exponential. This fitting procedure is found to be applicable for systems interacting both through constant and energy-dependent cross-sections, although this is only true for sufficiently dilute systems in the latter case. We find that the optimal fit technique consists in simultaneously fixing the intercept of the correlation function and use a fitting interval constrained by the relative error on the correlation function. The formalism is then applied to the full hadron gas, for which we obtain the shear viscosity to entropy ratio.

    Examination of evidence for collinear cluster tri-partition

    In a series of the experiments at different time-of-flight spectrometers of heavy ions we have observed manifestations of a new at least ternary decay channel of low excited heavy nuclei. Due to specific features of the effect, it was called collinear cluster tri-partition (CCT). The experimental results obtained initiated a number of theoretical articles dedicated to different aspects of the CCT. We compare theoretical predictions with our experimental data, only partially published so far. The model of one of the most populated CCT modes that gives rise to the so called "Ni-bump" is discussed. Detection of the 68-72Ni fission fragments with a kinetic energy E<25 MeV at the mass-separator Lohengrin is proposed for an independent experimental verification of the CCT.

    Update on extraction of transversity PDF from inclusive di-hadron production

    The transversity was recently extracted from data on the production of hadron pairs in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering. This analysis can be conveniently performed in the framework of collinear factorization where the elementary mechanism is represented by the simple product of transversity and of a suitable chiral-odd function describing the fragmentation of a transversely polarized parton into a pair of hadrons inside the same current jet. The same elementary mechanism was predicted long ago to generate an asymmetry in the azimuthal distribution of the hadron pairs when they are produced in proton-proton collisions with one transversely polarized proton. Recently, the STAR Collaboration has observed this asymmetry. We analyze the impact of these data on our knowledge of transversity and we present its first preliminary extraction from a global fit of all data in hard processes with inclusive di-hadron production.
