Measurement of the Lorentz-FitzGerald Body Contraction

    Johann Rafelski🇺🇸

A complete foundational discussion of acceleration in context of Special Relativity is presented. Acceleration allows the measurement of a Lorentz-FitzGerald body contraction created. It is argued that in the back scattering of a probing laser beam from a relativistic flying electron cloud mirror generated by an ultra-intense laser pulse, a first measurement of a Lorentz-FitzGerald body contraction is feasible.

Whether the can couple to open charm channels has been a crucial issue for understanding its nature. The available experimental data suggest that the cross section line shapes of exclusive processes in annihilations have nontrivial structures around the mass region of the . As part of a series of studies of the as mainly a molecular state, we show that the partial widths of the to the two-body open charm channels of and are much smaller than that to . The line shapes measured by the Belle Collaboration for these two channels can be well described by the vector charmonium states , and together with the . It turns out that the interference of the with the other charmonia produces a dip around 4.22~GeV in the cross section line shape. The data also show an evidence for the strong coupling of the to the , in line with the expectation in the hadronic molecular scenario for the .

Deep inelastic scattering in the dipole picture at next-to-leading order

We study quantitatively the importance of the recently derived NLO corrections to the DIS structure functions at small x in the dipole formalism. We show that these corrections can be significant and depend on the factorization scheme used to resum large logarithms of energy into renormalization group evolution with the BK equation. This feature is similar to what has recently been observed for single inclusive forward hadron production. Using a factorization scheme consistent with the one recently proposed for the single inclusive cross section, we show that it is possible to obtain meaningful results for the DIS cross sections.
