    Spectra and elliptic flow for , , and in 200 A GeV Au+Au collisions

    Using VISHNU hybrid model, we calculate the -spectra and elliptic flow of , , and in 200 A GeV Au+Au collisions. Comparisons with the STAR measurements show that the model generally describes these soft hadron data. We also briefly study and discuss the mass ordering of elliptic flow among , , , , , and in minimum bias Au+Au collisions.

    Eta-mesic nuclei: past, present, future

    Eta-mesic nucleus or the quasibound nuclear state of an eta () meson in a nucleus is caused by strong-interaction force alone. This new type of nuclear species, which extends the landscape of nuclear physics, has been extensively studied since its prediction in 1986. In this paper, we review and analyze in great detail the models of the fundamental --nucleon interaction leading to the formation of an --mesic nucleus, the methods used in calculating the properties of a bound , and the approaches employed in the interpretation of the pertinent experimental data. In view of the successful observation of the --mesic nucleus Mg and other promising experimental results, future direction in searching for more --mesic nuclei is suggested.

    Influence of vibrational excitation on surface diffuseness of inter-nuclear potential: study through heavy-ion quasi-elastic scattering at deep subbarrier energies

    We discuss the role of channel coupling in the surface properties of an inter-nuclear potential for heavy-ion reactions. To this end, we analyze the experimental quasi-elastic cross sections for the C + Pd and C + Pd systems using the coupled-channels approach by including the vibrational excitations in the target nuclei. While earlier studies have reported a negligible influence of vibrational excitation on the surface diffuseness parameter for spherical systems, we find a significant effect for the C+Pd systems. Our systematic study also reveals influence of transfer couplings on the surface diffuseness parameter.

    Extended Skyrme Equation of State in asymmetric nuclear matter

    We present a new equation of state for infinite systems (symmetric, asymmetric and neutron matter) based on an extended Skyrme functional constrained by microscopic Brueckner-Bethe-Goldstone results. The resulting equation of state reproduces with very good accuracy the main features of microscopic calculations and it is compatible with recent measurements of two times Solar-mass neutron stars. We provide all necessary analytical expressions to facilitate a quick numerical implementation of quantities of astrophysical interest.
