Diversities in the properties of neutron stars at a fixed neutron-skin thickness in Pb nucleus

    N. Alam · A. Sulaksono · B. K. Agrawal

We study the diversities in the properties of the neutron stars arising due to the different choices for the cross-coupling between various mesons which governs the density dependence of the nuclear symmetry energy in the extended relativistic mean-field(RMF) model. For this purpose, we obtain two different families of the extended RMF model corresponding to different non-linear cross-coupling term in the isovector part of the effective Lagrangian density. The lowest order contributions for the mesons are also included. The different models within the same family are so obtained that they yield wide variation in the value of neutron-skin thickness in the Pb nucleus. These models are employed to compute the neutron star properties such as, core-crust transition density, radius and red shift at canonical mass (), tidal polarizability parameter, and threshold mass required for the enhanced cooling through direct Urca process. Most of the neutron star properties considered are significantly different(10\%-40\%) for the different families of models at a smaller neutron-skin thickness ( fm) in the Pb nucleus.

Phase diagram and thermal properties of strong-interaction matter

We introduce a novel procedure for computing the (mu,T)-dependent pressure in continuum QCD; and therefrom obtain a complex phase diagram and predictions for thermal properties of the system, providing the in-medium behaviour of the trace anomaly, speed of sound, latent heat and heat capacity.

A practical parametrization for line shapes of near-threshold states

    C. Hanhart🇩🇪 · Yu.S. Kalashnikova🇷🇺 · P. Matuschek🇩🇪 · R.V. Mizuk🇷🇺 · A.V. Nefediev🇷🇺 · Q. Wang🇩🇪

Numerous quarkonium(like) states lying near -wave thresholds are observed experimentally. We propose a self-consistent approach to these near-threshold states compatible with unitarity and analyticity. The underlying coupled-channel system includes a bare pole and an arbitrary number of elastic and inelastic channels treated fully nonperturbatively. The resulting analytical parametrization is ideally suited for a combined analysis of the data available in various channels that is exemplified by an excellent overall description of the data for the charged and states.

Spontaneous magnetization in high-density quark matter

It is shown that the spontaneous magnetization occurs due to the anomalous magnetic moments of quarks in the high-density quark matter under the tensor-type four-point interaction. The spin polarized condensate for each flavor of quark appears at high baryon density, which leads to the spontaneous magnetization due to the anomalous magnetic moments of quarks. The implications to the strong magnetic field in the compact stars is discussed.

Symmetric and Standard Matter-Neutrino Resonances Above Merging Compact Objects

    A. Malkus🇺🇸 · G. C. McLaughlin🇺🇸 · R. Surman🇺🇸

Matter-neutrino resonances (MNR) can occur in environments where the flux of electron antineutrinos is greater than the flux of electron neutrinos. These resonances may result in dramatic neutrino flavor transformation. Compact object merger disks are an example of an environment where electron antineutrinos outnumber neutrinos. We study MNR resonances in several such disk configurations and find two qualitatively different types of matter-neutrino resonances: a standard MNR and a symmetric MNR. We examine the transformation that occurs in each type of resonance and explore the consequences for nucleosynthesis.
