Chiral Soliton Model vs Pentaquark Structure for \Theta (1540)

Abstract

The exotic baryon $Θ^{+}$ (1540 MeV) $i s v i s u a l i se d a s an e x p ec t e d (i so) r o t a t i o na l e x c i t a t i o nin t h e C hi r a l S o l i t o n M o d e l . I t i s a l so a r g u e d a s a P e n t a q u a r k ba r y o n s t a t e ina co n s t i t u e n tq u a r k m o d e l w i t h s t r o n g d i q u a r k cor r e l a t i o n s . I co n t r a s tt h e tw o p o in t so f v i e w; t h es imi l a r i t i es an dd i f f er e n ces b e tw ee n t h e tw o p i c t u r es . C o l l ec t i v ee x c i t a t i o n, c ha r a c t er i s t i co f C hi r a l S o l i t o n M o d e l p o in t s t o w a r d s ma l l mi x in g o f r e p r ese n t a t i o n s in t h e w ak eo f S U (3) b r e ak in g . I n co n t r a s t, C o n s t i t u e n tq u a r k M o d e l s p r e f er n e a r ‘‘ i d e a l^{''} mi x in g, s imi l a r t o$ \omega - \phi$ mixing.
