Production cross sections of H bound states in He(, ) reactions at 1 GeV/

Abstract

We investigate theoretically productions of H bound states in the exothermic (, ) reactions on He targets at 1.0 GeV/c in a distorted-wave impulse approximation with the optimal Fermi-averaging matrix. We calculate angular distributions of the laboratory differential cross sections and the integrated cross sections for a ground state and a excited state of H at forward-direction angles of 0-20, and those for a ground state of H. The production of a excited state of H as a virtual state is also evaluated. The comparison in and between H and H provides examining the mechanism of the production and structure of H, as well as in the endothermic (, ) reactions at 1.05 GeV/c. This investigation confirms the feasibility of lifetime measurements of H at the J-PARC experiments.
