Neutrino Capture Reactions on $^{40}$ Ar

Gamow-Teller (GT) strength in $^{40}$ Ar is studied by shell-model calculations with monopole-based universal intearction, which has tensor components of $π$ \rho $- m eso n e x c han g es . C a l c u l a t e d GT s t r e n g t hi s f o u n d t o b eco n s i s t e n tw i t h t h ee x p er im e n t a l d a t a o b t ain e d b y r ece n t ($ p, n $) r e a c t i o n s . N e u t r in oc a pt u r ecr osssec t i o n so n$ ^{40} $A r f or so l a r n e u t r in os f r o m$ ^{8} $B a r e f o u n d t o b ee nhan ce d co m p a r e d w i t h p r e v i o u sc a l c u l a t i o n s . T h er e a c t i o n cr osssec t i o n s f or m u l t i p o l eso t h er t han$ 0^{+} $an d$ 1^{+}$ are obtained by random-phase approximation (RPA). Their contributions become important for neutrino energies larger than 50 MeV.
