Chaos assisted decay of ${}^{180}T{a}^m$

Abstract

The decay of the $J=9^{-}$ isomeric state in ${}^{180}Ta$ is described in a model based on the phenomenon of chaos assisted tunneling. The model attempts to explain the enhanced decay of the isomeric state when irradiated by gamma-rays or subjected to Coulomb excitations.
