Weak binding effects on the structure of Mg

    A. O. Macchiavelli · H. L. Crawford · P. Fallon · R. M. Clark · A. Poves

While the phenomenon of one- and two-neutron ground-state halo nuclei is well established, the effects of weak binding on nuclear excitation properties remain largely unexplored. Motivated by this question and by recent data in Mg we investigate the coupling of weakly bound (halo) valence neutrons to a core using the known properties of Mg to explore and illustrate possible particle-core coupling schemes and their impact on the low-lying excitation spectrum.

Study of threshold anomaly in elastic scattering of N by Fe and Zr

    K. K. Jena · S. Senapati · B. B. Sahu · Jajati K. Nayak · S. K. Agarwalla

We use a phenomenological nucleus-nucleus optical potential constructed in the light of a potential developed by Ginocchio to study the elastic angular distributions of different nuclear systems near Coulomb barrier. The differential cross section ratios of elastic to Rutherford are studied for systems N+Fe and N+Zr for several colliding energies. Our theoretical predictions are well competitive with the experimental data, and the significantly small imaginary part of the potential explains the elastic scattering cross section and threshold anomaly in both systems.

Bayesian inference of finite-nuclei observables based on the KIDS model

    Jun Xu · Panagiota Papakonstantinou

Bayesian analyses on both isoscalar and isovector nuclear interaction parameters are carried out based on the Korea-IBS-Daegu-SKKU (KIDS) model under the constraints of nuclear structure data of Pb and Sn. Under the constraint of the neutron-skin thickness, it is found that incorporating the curvature parameter of nuclear symmetry energy as an independent variable significantly broadens the posterior probability distribution function (PDF) of the slope parameter , and affects the related correlations. Typically, the anticorrelation between and the symmetry energy at saturation density disappears, while a positive correlation between and is observed. Under the constraint of the isoscalar giant monopole resonance (ISGMR), incorporating the skewness parameter as an independent variable also significantly broadens the posterior PDF of the nuclear matter incompressibility . Even with the broad uncertainties of higher-order parameters of the equation of state (EOS), robust constraints of MeV and MeV are obtained. Our study quantifies the consistency between the constraints on from the neutron-skin data of PREXII and isovector giant dipole resonance (IVGDR) data, and the constraints on from the data of ISGMR in Pb and Sn.

Quarkyonic matter state of neutron stars

    Gaoqing Cao🇨🇳

This work extends our previous study of isospin symmetric quarkyonic matter to quarkyonic neutron matter which might be relevant to the inner cores of neutron stars. The vector-isovector mesons are introduced to the model mainly to account for isospin density interactions, just like meson for baryon density interactions. The modified Lagrangian still preserves approximate chiral symmetry which could be significantly broken at lower density. And new free parameters are fixed by adopting the experimental constraints on the symmetry energy and its slope at saturation density. Eventually, the pressure, mass-radius relation, and tidal deformability are explored in advance for the quarkyonic neutron stars. While the pressure and tidal deformability are well consistent with experimental and observational restrictions, the mass-radius relation is unable to reproduce the observed two solar mass of PSR J0740+6620.
