    The Equation of State of Nuclear Matter : from Finite Nuclei to Neutron Stars

    {\it Background.} We investigate possible correlations between neutron star observables and properties of atomic nuclei. Particularly, we explore how the tidal deformability of a 1.4 solar mass neutron star, , and the neutron skin thickness of Ca and Pb are related to the stellar radius and the stiffness of the symmetry energy. {\it Methods.} We examine a large set of nuclear equations of state based on phenomenological models (Skyrme, NLWM, DDM) and {\it ab-initio} theoretical methods (BBG, Dirac-Brueckner, Variational, Quantum Monte Carlo). {\it Results.} We find strong correlations between tidal deformability and NS radius, whereas a weaker correlation does exist with the stiffness of the symmetry energy. Regarding the neutron skin thickness, weak correlations appear both with the stiffness of the symmetry energy, and the radius of a . {\it Conclusion.} The tidal deformability of a and the neutron-skin thickness of atomic nuclei show some degree of correlation with nuclear and astrophysical observables, which however depends on the ensemble of adopted EoS.

    Fast Heating Dissociation of Upsilon(1S) in Heavy Ion Collisions at RHIC

    With the adiabatic assumption in the cooling process, we discussed a new mechanism on Upsilon(1S) suppression that is due to the fast heating process at the early stage of the fireball instead of its finite decay width in finite temperature medium produced in the heavy ion collisions. We calculated the transition probability after the fast heating dissociation as a function of the temperature of the medium and the nuclear modification factor in central collisions, and found that the suppression is not negligible at RHIC, even if the width of Upsilon(1S) vanishes.

    Mass spectrum of Mesons via the WKB approximation method

    In this paper, we demonstrated that the multiple turning point problems within the framework of the Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) approximation method can be reduced to two turning point one for a non-symmetric potential function by using an appropriate Pekeris-type approximation scheme. We solved the Schrödinger equation with the Killingbeck potential plus an inversely quadratic potential (KPIQP) function. The special cases of the modeled potential are discussed. We obtained the energy eigenvalues and the mass spectra of the heavy and heavy-light mesons systems. The results in this present work are in good agreement with the results obtained by other analytical methods and available experimental data in the literature

    Nucleon clustering at kinetic freezeout of heavy-ion collisions via path-integral Monte Carlo

    Clustering of the four-nucleon system at kinetic freezeout conditions is studied using path-integral Monte Carlo techniques. This method seeks to improve upon previous calculations which relied on approximate semiclassical methods or few-body quantum mechanics. Estimates are given for the decay probabilities of the 4N system into various light nuclei decay channels and the strength of spatial correlations is characterized. Additionally, a simple model is presented to describe the impact of this clustering on nucleon multiplicity distributions. The effects of a possible modification of the inter-nucleon interaction due to the close critical line (and hypothetical QCD critical point) on the clustering are also studied.

    Gamow-Teller strength in Ca and Ni with the charge-exchange subtracted second random-phase approximation

    We develop a fully self-consistent subtracted second random-phase approximation for charge-exchange processes with Skyrme energy-density functionals. As a first application, we study Gamow-Teller excitations in the doubly-magic nucleus Ca, the lightest double- emitter that could be used in an experiment, and in Ni, the single-beta-decay rate of which is known. The amount of Gamow-Teller strength below 20 or 30 MeV is considerably smaller than in other energy-density-functional calculations and agrees better with experiment in Ca, as does the beta-decay rate in Ni. These important results, obtained without \textit{ad hoc} quenching factors, are due to the presence of two-particle -- two-hole configurations. Their density progressively increases with excitation energy, leading to a long high-energy tail in the spectrum, a fact that may have implications for the computation of nuclear matrix elements for neutrinoless double- decay in the same framework.
