    Microscopic description of axisymmetric vortices in superfluids

    We study quantized vortices in superfluids using a microscopic theory for the first time. The theory is based on the Eilenberger equation to determine the order parameters and the Bogoliubov-de Gennes (BdG) equation to obtain the eigenenergies and the core magnetization. Within axisymmetric vortex configurations, we find several stable and metastable vortex configurations which depend on the strength of a magnetic field, similar to a vortex and vortex in He superfluids. We demonstrate that the vortex is the most stable axisymmetric vortex in the presence of a strong magnetic field, and we find two zero-energy Majorana fermion bound states in the -vortex core. We show that the profiles of the core magnetization calculated using the BdG equation are drastically different from those calculated using only the order parameter profiles known before.

    Comment on N. Rijal et al. "Measurement of d + 7Be Cross Sections for Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis"

    Rijal, et al. in their recent publication [Phys. Rev. Lett {\bf 122}, 182701 (2019), arXiv:1808.07893], on "Measurement of d + Be Cross Sections for Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN)", misrepresent their result, they misrepresent previous work of Parker (72) and of Caughlan and Fowler (88), and quite possibly, contradicts the very BBN theory that has been established over the last few decades. This comment is intended to correct these misrepresentations and critically review their claims on BBN.

    SU(2) non-Abelian gauge field theory in one dimension on digital quantum computers

    An improved mapping of one-dimensional SU(2) non-Abelian gauge theory onto qubit degrees of freedom is presented. This new mapping allows for a reduced unphysical Hilbert space. Insensitivity to interactions within this unphysical space is exploited to design more efficient quantum circuits. Local gauge symmetry is used to analytically incorporate the angular momentum alignment, leading to qubit registers encoding the total angular momentum on each link. The results of a multi-plaquette calculation on IBM's quantum hardware are presented.
