Charge symmetry violation in the determination of strangeness form factors

    Ali Alkathiri🇦🇺 · Ross D. Young🇦🇺 · James M. Zanotti🇦🇺

The strange quark contributions to the electromagnetic form factors of the proton are ideal quantities to study the role of hidden flavor in the properties of the proton. This has motivated intense experimental measurements of these form factors. A major remaining source of systematic uncertainty in these determinations is the assumption that charge symmetry violation (CSV) is negligible. We use recent theoretical determinations of the CSV form factors and reanalyse the available parity-violating electron scattering data, up to 1 GeV. Our analysis considers systematic expansions of the strangeness electric and magnetic form factors of the proton. The results provide an update to the determination of strangeness over a range of where, under certain assumptions about the effective axial form factor, an emergence of non-zero strangeness is revealed in the vicinity of 0.6 GeV. Given the recent theoretical calculations, it is found that the current limits on CSV do not have a significant impact on the interpretation of the measurements and hence suggests an opportunity for a next generation of parity-violating measurements to more precisely map the distribution of strange quarks.

TDHF Theory and Its Extensions for the Multinucleon Transfer Reaction: a Mini Review

    Kazuyuki Sekizawa🇯🇵

Time-dependent Hartree-Fock (TDHF) theory has been a powerful tool in describing a variety of complex nuclear dynamics microscopically without empirical parameters. In this contribution, recent advances in nuclear dynamics studies with TDHF and its extensions are briefly reviewed, along the line with the study of multinucleon transfer (MNT) reactions. The latter lies at the core of this Research Topic, whose application for production of extremely neutron-rich nuclei has been extensively discussed in recent years. Having in mind the ongoing theoretical developments, it is envisaged how microscopic theories may contribute to the future MNT study.

Resistive dissipative magnetohydrodynamics from the Boltzmann-Vlasov equation

    Gabriel S. Denicol🇧🇷 · Etele Molnár🇩🇪 · Harri Niemi🇩🇪 · Dirk H. Rischke🇩🇪

We derive the equations of motion of relativistic, resistive, second-order dissipative magnetohydrodynamics from the Boltzmann-Vlasov equation using the method of moments. We thus extend our previous work [Phys. Rev. D 98, 076009 (2018)], where we only considered the non-resistive limit, to the case of finite electric conductivity. This requires keeping terms proportional to the electric field in the equations of motions and leads to new transport coefficients due to the coupling of the electric field to dissipative quantities. We also show that the Navier-Stokes limit of the charge-diffusion current corresponds to Ohm's law, while the coefficients of electrical conductivity and charge diffusion are related by a type of Wiedemann-Franz law.

Ab Initio No Core Shell Model Study of Neutron Rich Nitrogen Isotopes

Archana Saxena · Praveen C. Srivastava

In the present paper, we have calculated the energy spectra for neutron rich N isotopes using no core shell model (NCSM).To calculate the energy spectrum we have used three different potentials, inside non-local outside Yukawa (INOY), next-to-next-to-next-leading order (N3LO) from chiral effective field theory and charge-dependent Bonn 2000 (CDB2K). The INOY potential, which is a two body interaction but also have the effect of three body forces by short range and non local character present in it. The calculations have been done at =20 MeV, 14 MeV and 12 MeV using INOY, N3LO and CDB2K potentials, respectively. Apart from this, we have also performed shell model calculations with the YSOX interaction. The results with INOY interaction show good agreement with the experimental data in comparison to other three interactions. We have also shown the occupancy of different orbitals involved corresponding to the largest model space (= 4) in the present calculations.
