    Nucleon-deuteron scattering with the JISP16 potential

    The nucleon-nucleon J-matrix Inverse Scattering Potential JISP16 is applied to elastic nucleon-deuteron (Nd) scattering and the deuteron breakup process at the lab. nucleon energies up to 135 MeV. The formalism of the Faddeev equations is used to obtain 3N scattering states. We compare predictions based on the JISP16 force with data and with results based on various NN interactions: the CD Bonn, the AV18, the chiral force with the semi-local regularization at the 5th order of the chiral expansion and with low-momentum interactions obtained from the CD Bonn force as well as with the predictions from the combination of the AV18 NN interaction and the Urbana IX 3N force. JISP16 provides a satisfactory description of some observables at low energies but strong deviations from data as well as from standard and chiral potential predictions with increasing energy. However, there are also polarization observables at low energies for which the JISP16 predictions differ from those based on the other forces by a factor of two. The reason for such a behavior can be traced back to the P-wave components of the JISP16 force. At higher energies the deviations can be enhanced by an interference with higher partial waves and by the properties of the JISP16 deuteron wave function. In addition, we compare the energy and angular dependence of predictions based on the JISP16 force with the results of the low-momentum forces obtained with different values of the momentum cutoff parameter. We found that such low-momentum forces can be employed to interpret the Nd elastic scattering data only below some specific energy which depends on the cutoff parameter. Since JISP16 is defined in a finite oscillator basis, it has properties similar to low momentum interactions and its application to the description of Nd scattering data is limited to a low momentum transfer region.

    Medium-modification of photon-tagged jets in collisions

    We study nuclear modification of the photon-tagged jets in collisions within the jet quenching scheme based on the light-cone path integral approach to the induced gluon emission. The calculations are performed for running coupling. Collisional energy loss is treated as a perturbation to the radiative mechanism. We obtain a reasonable agreement with the recent data from the STAR Collaboration on the mid-rapidity nuclear modification factor for Au+Au collisions at GeV for parametrization of running consistent with that necessary for description of the data on suppression of the high- spectra.

    Disentangling stopped proton and inclusive net-proton fluctuations at RHIC

    The recent results on net-proton and net-charge multiplicity fluctuations from the beam energy scan program at RHIC have drawn much attention to explore the critical point in the QCD phase diagram. Experimentally measured protons contain contribution from various processes such as secondaries from higher mass resonance decay, production process, and protons from the baryon stopping. Further, these contributions also fluctuate from event to event and can contaminate the dynamical fluctuations due to the critical point. We present the contribution of stopped proton and produced proton fluctuations in the net-proton multiplicity fluctuation in \auau collisions measured by STAR experiment at RHIC. The produced net-proton multiplicity fluctuations using cumulants and their ratios are studied as a function collision energies. After removing the stopped proton contribution from the inclusive proton multiplicity distribution, a non-monotonic behavior is even more pronounced in the net-proton fluctuations around \sqsn = 19.6 GeV, both in and . The present study will be useful to understand the fluctuations originating due to critical point.

    Consistent Implementation of Finite-Range Terms into Hydrodynamics

    Non-zero-range interactions are often incorporated into mean field theories through gradient terms. Here, a formalism is developed to incorporate such terms into hydrodynamics. These terms alter expressions for the entropy, chemical potential, temperature and the stress-energy tensor. The formalism respects local conservation of energy, charge and entropy. The formalism leads to static solutions where the temperature, chemical potential and hydrodynamic acceleration all vanish, even when the density profile might be non-uniform. Profiles for a phase boundary and for correlation functions are calculated to illustrate the gradient modifications for various thermodynamic quantities. Also, for hydrodynamic calculations that add thermal noise to generate density-density correlations of the desired strength, an additional noise term is derived so that, at equilibrium, correlations are generated with both the correct size and length scale.

    Alpha decay of nuclei interesting for synthesis of isotopes

    Four groups (even-even, even-odd, odd-even and odd-odd) of heavy and super-heavy nuclei are of interest for the synthesis of the isotopes with . We report calculations of ~decay half-lives using four models: AKRA (Akrawy); ASAF (Analytical Super-Asymmetric Fission); UNIV (Universal Formula), and semFIS (Semi-empirical formula based on Fission Theory). We compare the experimental values either with AME16 atomic mass evaluation (whenever available) and with the theoretical model WS4, able to give masses of not yet measured nuclides. For Sr cluster radioactivity of 120 we predict a branching ratio relative to ~decay of -0.10 and 0.49, respectively, meaning that it is worth trying to detect such kind of decay modes in competition with ~decay.

    Two- and three-cluster decays of light nuclei with the hyperspherical harmonics

    We consider a set of three-cluster systems (He, Li, Be, Be, Be) within a microscopic model which involves the hyperspherical harmonics to represent intercluster motion. We selected such three-cluster systems which have at least one binary channel. Our aim is to study whether the hyperspherical harmonics are able and under what conditions to describe two-body channel(s) (nondemocratic motion) or they are suitable for describing three-cluster continuum only (democratic motion). It is demonstrated that a rather restricted number of the hyperspherical harmonics allows us to describe bound states and scattering states in two-body continuum for a three-cluster system.
